I feel its because you've studied theatre that the movie seemed slow and almost boring to you😂😂
I haven't watched it nor think I may watch it because of my weakness for horror 😂😂
But from what I read .. I feel it would be quite a nice movie😂😂😂
Social media can easily deceive viewers on the quality of a movie though 😂

Certainly the times in the theater are much slower than in the cinema (which by the way, I am studying cinematography, not theater) but in the same way it does not justify how slow it is in its development; those are details that have to be taken into account when making an adaptation from theater to film, even from a book to film; however this is not the case because it is not a play, this script is written for the big screen.
If you like the horror and suspense genre, I recommend you to watch all kinds of movies, good or bad, because it expands your criteria a lot. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 💙
