Immaculate, Mi Opinión Honesta (Con Spoilers) [ESP/ENG]
Holii, tiempo sin hacer alguna reseña por acá aunque tenía muchas ganas de hacer varias; las responsabilidades de la universidad este semestre han sido bastante demandantes y no he tenido mucho tiempo libre para consumir contenidos pero ya el semestre finalizó y vuelvo a tener tiempo para mí. He visto algunas películas y series pero hoy quiero hablarles de una película muy comentada en redes sociales debido a su visión fresca de este género, Inmaculada de Michael Mohan.
Había visto muchas reseñas y comentarios, casi todas coincidían es que era una película innovadora, dándole otro enfoque o frescura al género de terror y suspenso; se mencionaba mucho el nivel de actuación de Sydney Sweeney (Cecilia) debido a que fue esplendido así que sin dudas me estaba llamando la atención.

Hiii there, it's been a while since I've done a review here although I really wanted to do several; the responsibilities of the university this semester have been quite demanding and I haven't had much free time to consume content but now the semester is over and I have time for myself again. I have watched a few movies and series but today I want to tell you about a movie that has been much talked about on social media because of its fresh take on the genre, Immaculate by Michael Mohan.
I had seen many reviews and comments, almost all of them agreed that it was an innovative film, giving another approach or freshness to the horror and suspense genre; Sydney Sweeney's (Cecilia) acting level was mentioned a lot because it was splendid so without a doubt it was catching my attention.

Inmaculada empezó mal para mí porque comenzó utilizando recursos demasiados gastados en el género como mostrarnos una tortura, una persona huyendo de seres misteriosos y un suceso doloroso como desesperante; con este inicio le perdí las expectativas a la película pero igual le quise dar su oportunidad, al principio sí sentía que había caído bajo los engaños de la publicidad en redes sociales porque no veía lo innovador ni lo fresco, solo veía la utilización recursos desgastados, mismos planos como movimientos de cámara y no me estaba llamando para nada la atención lo que tenían para contarme.
Admito que mi interés se despertó cuando Cecilia vomita y le hacen aquel interrogatorio para saber si ha estado con algún hombre antes o después de hacer sus votos, considero que esa situación si la manejaron muy bien y supieron dosificar la información de a poco para que el espectador, aun sabiendo lo que iba a pasar, se sorprendiera al saber que ella estaba embarazada así como María concibió a Jesús.
Immaculate started off badly for me because it began using resources that were too worn out in the genre such as showing us a torture, a person fleeing from mysterious beings and a painful and desperate event; with this beginning I lost my expectations of the film but I still wanted to give it a chance, at first I felt that I had fallen under the deceptions of advertising on social networks because I didn't see anything innovative or fresh, I only saw the use of worn out resources, the same shots and camera movements and I wasn't at all attracted by what they had to tell me.
I admit that my interest was awakened when Cecilia vomits and they interrogate her to find out if she has been with a man before or after taking her vows, I think they handled that situation very well and knew how to dose the information little by little so that the viewer, even knowing what was going to happen, would be surprised to learn that she was pregnant just as Mary conceived Jesus.
Evidentemente mi mente está curada en estos temas y puedo deducir desde muy temprano cómo se desarrollarán los hechos, eso es lo malo de estudiar cine, sin embargo eso no me inhibe de disfrutar del desarrollo de la trama; desde ese suceso del embarazo en adelante mi interés estaba muy enfocado en resolver el misterio de cómo y porqué Cecilia estaba embarazada aunque ya tenía una idea de qué pasaría, lo malo vino cuando ese misterio lo alargaron mucho haciendo la película lenta y un poco tediosa con las escenas de muertes, violencia y sustos en las noches.
Entiendo que quisieron hacer terror pero creo que si se hubiesen quedado solo en el suspenso, la película habría quedado 10 veces mejor; después de descubrir toda la trama, la conspiración del convento por crear y engendrar al nuevo "Salvador", la película se vuelve muy surreal. Desde un análisis lógico es imposible que una mujer de 8/9 meses de embarazo con contracciones y en proceso de dilatación tenga la fuerza y resistencia para correr, golpear e incluso soportar caídas y golpes a los cuales estuvo expuesta en todos esos minutos finales de la película; entiendo que la adrenalina que te genera el miedo y la necesidad de escapar te impulsa a hacer cosas que normalmente pensarías imposible pero el cuerpo humano tiene límites que esta película ignoró completamente.
Evidently, my mind is trained in these matters and I can deduce from very early on how the events will develop, that's the bad thing about studying film, however that doesn't inhibit me from enjoying the development of the plot; from that event of pregnancy onwards my interest was very focused on solving the mystery of how and why Cecilia was pregnant although I already had an idea of what would happen, the bad thing came when that mystery was prolonged too much making the movie slow and a little tedious with the scenes of deaths, violence and scares at night.
I understand that they wanted to make horror but I think that if they had stayed only in the suspense, the film would have been 10 times better; after discovering the whole plot, the conspiracy of the convent to create and beget the new "Savior", the film becomes very surreal. From a logical analysis it is impossible that a woman 8/9 months pregnant with contractions and in the process of dilation has the strength and endurance to run, hit and even endure falls and blows to which she was exposed in all those final minutes of the film; I understand that the adrenaline generated by fear and the need to escape drives you to do things you would normally think impossible but the human body has limits that this film completely ignored.
El final me dejó un extraño sabor de boca, siento que fue un final muy esperado sin embargo no fue del todo bien logrado; es mi opinión personal, claro está, pero considero que lo que salvó los últimos minutos de Inmaculada fue la actuación increíble de Sydney, ella ya ha demostrado ser muy buena actuando pero aquí se consolidó como actriz, sus expresiones faciales, su forma de manifestar el dolor y el tiempo como la intensidad de los gritos cuando estaba dando a luz te hacen sentir sumamente incomodo pero, a su vez, te transmite el dolor como la desesperación que está sintiendo.
El hecho de nunca mostrarnos al bebé era algo de esperarse, eso le genera morbo, curiosidad y desespero al espectador que está acostumbrado a ver como saber todo; me pareció una genialidad que ella misma cortara el cordón umbilical con los dientes, ahí le dio un toque de realismo grotesco que estuve esperando a lo largo de todo el film. Tengo que ser honesta, no estoy del todo satisfecha con el final, siento que fue una especia de final abierto inconsciente, o sea, no fue intención del guionista ni director que fuese un final abierto pero lamentablemente lo fue porque te dejaron con mil preguntas sin contestar y que espero no se atrevan a hacer una segunda entrega para contestarlas porque lo van a arruinar.
The ending left a strange taste in my mouth, I feel it was a very expected ending but it wasn't quite well done; it's my personal opinion, of course, but I think that what saved the last minutes of Immaculate was Sydney's incredible performance, she has already proven to be very good at acting but here she consolidated herself as an actress, her facial expressions, her way of showing the pain and the time as the intensity of the screams when she was giving birth make you feel extremely uncomfortable but, at the same time, she transmits the pain as the desperation she is feeling.
The fact of never showing us the baby was something to be expected, that generates morbidity, curiosity and desperation to the viewer who is used to see how to know everything; I thought it was great that she herself cut the umbilical cord with her teeth, there she gave a touch of grotesque realism that I was waiting for throughout the film. I have to be honest, I'm not entirely satisfied with the ending, I feel it was a kind of unconscious open ending, that is, it wasn't the intention of the screenwriter or director that it was an open ending but unfortunately it was because they left you with a thousand unanswered questions and I hope they don't dare to make a second installment to answer them because they will ruin it.
No la considero una mala película, de hecho tengo ganas de verla de nuevo para apreciar como analizar detalles que pude haber pasado por alto la primera vez que la vi; solo considero que es una muy buena idea mal ejecutada en ciertos puntos del film, sí siento que sea una mirada nueva del género pero no tan innovadora como la vendieron en redes sociales.
Si la tengo que calificar del 1 al 10, le daría un 7; repito, no es una mala película pero creo que la historia pudo dar mucho más de lo que dio este producto final. I don't consider it a bad movie, in fact I'm looking forward to see it again to appreciate how to analyze details that I could have missed the first time I saw it; I just consider it a very good idea poorly executed at certain points of the film, I do feel that it is a new look at the genre but not as innovative as it was sold in social networks.
If I have to rate it from 1 to 10, I would give it a 7; I repeat, it is not a bad movie but I think the story could have given much more than what this final product gave. Me parece que tu calificación de 7/10 es bastante acertada. Fue una buena idea que no se terminó de explotar al máximo, pero que aun así ofrece una perspectiva fresca al género. Quizás con algunos ajustes podría haber sido una obra maestra.👍
Totalmente, la sinopsis me llamó mucho la atención aparte de varias reseñas que vi en internet pero cuando la vi no siento que haya cumplido con esas expectativas; es una idea relativamente original y que pudo llegar a mucho pero no supieron desarrollarla correctamente; sin embargo considero que Sydney estuvo increíble.

Social media can easily deceive viewers on the quality of a movie though 😂
Certainly the times in the theater are much slower than in the cinema (which by the way, I am studying cinematography, not theater) but in the same way it does not justify how slow it is in its development; those are details that have to be taken into account when making an adaptation from theater to film, even from a book to film; however this is not the case because it is not a play, this script is written for the big screen.
If you like the horror and suspense genre, I recommend you to watch all kinds of movies, good or bad, because it expands your criteria a lot. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 💙

Sí claro pero hay una lógica dentro de las películas incluso así sean de fantasía, todo género tiene su ciencia y objetividad pero en muchas partes está película se las saltó.
Son cosas que empiezas a entender una vez estudias cine como realizador y no como crítico, sin embargo, es mi opinión personal, si lo ves diferente es aceptable también 💙

Opino igual: fue predecible y desaprovechó varias cosas. Ahora bien, destaco la actuación de la protagonista, creo que lo hizo bien y mostró habilidades diferentes a otros trabajos suyos
Totalmente, creo que lo más destacable realmente es el trabajo de ella, fue increíble y preciso, demostró exactamente lo que debía como debía aunque el guion le exigiera cosas inhumanas.
Considero que es una buena historia que habría que volver a producir para darle un mejor resultado.
