Carry-On - The Review

For a Christmas movie, you'd be expecting a loving, holding hands kind of movie where everything is centered about Christmas and Christmas miracles.
Don't get me wrong, I love those kind of movies, they are always leaving a smile on my face afterwards. But this particular movie, left not only a smile but a scream, a shout and the urge to come here and write a review. That's how much I loved the movie and want you to experience what I experienced.

At first on seeing guy at the start of the movie, I thought it was John Cena and I was filled with joy but as I looked well I saw the "real face" and my expectations dropped. "That's fine", I said to myself as I continued to watch with hope that the hype over the movie won't be in vain.
Also, what made me continue watching before that the girl is fineeeee 😅😅😅

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Taron Egerton as Ethan Kopek (who I thought was John Cena),is a TSA agent at LAX, who has to make tough choices for the safety of others.

Let's go into the plot.
The movie being centered within an airport is that type filled with so much suspense and unpredictable moves as Kopek makes decisions on either to save the people in the airport, passengers that will be boarding a flight, his best friend's family or his pregnant girlfriend.

Having failed to get a job as a police officer, our actor gets roped in a situation on Christmas Eve when a traveler, forces him into allowing a suspicious bag through security, threatening his loved ones if he refuses.

The funniest thing about this plot is that this entire crisis wasn't meant to be for him but due to the fact that he is expecting a baby, he just had to ask his supervisor for a promotion, he got promoted and was swapped with his friend and his friend took another position (Nigerians will say you use your hand buy bad market).
His decisions at first was reckless having figured out who the man at the other end of the call is, he sent a hidden message and the messager was killed. That loss broke him and left him thinking afterwards.

Unlike every other movie I have seen, this movie was so unpredictable as I couldn't tell anything. There was a point I thought he wanted to swap the entire luggage but he didn't, when I thought he would cave in, he just kept on surprising everyone especially me and the part where he punched the detective was amazing. Like how can a nobody surprise a detective like that.

When they talk about not judging a book by it's cover, it was this guy. Lastly, (before I drop more spoilers) I felt for the guy when he finally came out and said the main reason why he didn't pass the academy interview and it was touching.

The acting was top notched, the stunts were very life like. Even though it was just one location, they did everything to utilise that one location.

In summary, if you are looking for a holiday themed movie packed with a lot of action and for the family then guys "Carry-On" is the one for you, providing enough suspense and action to engage you seeking a festive yet adrenaline-fueled movie experience and for those looking to stay away from usual Christmas movie fare I highly recommend.

Thanks for stopping by.
Let me know if you would give it a trial and if you have seen it, what's your take on the movie??
