Good evening, today I'm going to talk to you about the things that happened during the filming of the Superman movie, which was directed by Richard Donner and starred Christopher Reeve in 1978.

Curiosities

  • Roger Moore witnessed how much a person changes when he puts on glasses, because during the filming of Superman he met Christopher Reeve at the studios, and one day the actor came in dressed completely as Superman and everyone was amazed. A few days later Roger Moore was also in the cafeteria and saw Christopher Reeve come in dressed as Clark Kent and nobody said anything to him, in fact the inspiration to turn Superman into Clark Kent only through glasses was because of the actor Harold H Lloyd who when he took off his mythical glasses nobody recognized him on the street.

  • By that time Marlon Brandon was already a little tired of working so he suggested to Richard Donner that he should go into more detail in the rehearsals of the scenes in case he was lucky and they turned out well and he didn't have to repeat them. Almost all of Marlon's scenes are recorded from the rehearsals because the actor didn't want to repeat them either.

  • Actor Gene Hackman refused to shave his mustache to play Lex Luthor, so director Richard Doner proposed a deal: if Jin shaved his mustache, he would also go to the barbershop. Hagman thought it was a good deal and after leaving the barbershop he discovered Richard Donner removing a fake mustache from his face.

  • Actor Marlon Brandon refused to learn his lines. In fact, in the scene where he is with Kalen's baby, he is reading the script in the child's own diapers.

  • Actor Marlon Brandon earned $3.7 million for 12 Days of Work plus a share of the film's box office profits, but Marlon Brandon was not happy and believed he had been cheated, so he sued the studio for more money and refused to appear in the following Superman films even though there were scenes shot for the second part. In the end the studio ended up giving the actor $14 million.

Well, gentlemen, that's all for today. I hope you liked these curiosities about the Superman movie.

So, tomorrow there will be more and better.

The first superman is really iconic. I mean at the time, they were able to create such movie and honestly I prefer watching this version more than the modern one.
