The Details

Each week, our Moderators will monitor the posts within the Movies and TV Shows Community and handpick the ones that are believed to stand out under numerous factors: post quality, length, and subject.

The Day After Tomorrow

This movie came out in 2004, so it's almost 20 years old and it's still good (although... the special effects nowadays... everything is green screen hahahaha ). Looking to remember who were the actors, and I only know 3, Jake Gyllenhaal (protagonist), Dennis Quaid (father of the protagonist) and Sela Ward (I know she was Dr., but I do not remember if she was with the father or son). After almost 2 decades they are still great actors.

Review: La Sociedad de la Nieve.

The most recent version and for which I am making this review is La sociedad de la nieve, a Spanish production that is on the Netflix platform since the first days of the year, based on the book of the same name by Pablo Vierci, which tells the story of the plane crash in the Andes Mountains in 1972, it is incredible the resemblance of the actors with the survivors, it truly moved me to that time and place, the beautiful landscapes of the Andes, the shocking feeling of pain and hope to survive. In this version the real names were used and some real survivors participated in the making of the film. The strength they showed in those 60 days was admirable, which makes me think not only of their physical strength as athletes, but also of their spiritual strength, the sense of unity and brotherhood.

East New York: A friendly police TV Show

But sometimes work goes further when it is mixed with politics as often happens in real life, and here we are shown very clearly with the hierarchies of the high command that mix too easily with political positions, with municipal candidates and possible future commissioner positions. Everyone thinks about achieving more power and with their decisions they pressure those below to make other decisions, as happens to Regina's boss Assistant Chief John Suarez, who is between those two worlds but who always supports the decisions in favor of the people that she wants to implement in her police station and in her neighborhood.

La Ciudad Perdida

The main figure in her story is Alan Caprison a cover model for the novel that fans want to meet. In fact, Alan completely overshadows her as they premiere the book and Loretta Sage notices. The reaction sets off a series of events that provoke a lot of laughs. I felt like I was watching one of the Indiana Jones sagas. Maybe that grabs me more. I'm not a fan of all fantasy genres but this particular one is.

[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The plot is made up of comedic moments that are mostly funny, these make fun of all kinds of cliché things both in Hollywood and in the cinematographic medium, only making fun is limited because there is no air of criticism within them, The action moments are quite generic and without real importance. Narratively there isn't much, it's a parody so you can't really expect anything spectacular, something that even seems ironic to me is that it falls into some of the clichés it makes fun of. The length is not excessive, the jokes make the duration quite enjoyable, although not all of them are funny, at least they give an interesting touch to the film.

MOVIE REVIEW: “The Holdovers” (2023)

A literal approach to confused feelings and hellish conflicts of different orders. All of this immersed within a reality common to the three of them (in proportions aligned with the dilemmas faced by each character in their respective subplots). Limited by a physical space that forces them to better understand each other, the movie tends to be very immersive precisely because it manages to deal with these three characters in a very didactic way. There is a very interesting simplicity of context here, but the argumentation and development are very powerful.

The Brass Teapot | Movie Review 🎥

Now I recommend this movie is a great option to watch with friends and family on a good weekend because the actors do an excellent job with the way they play the characters, the story is quite entertaining and involving and very, very funny, and it has an ending that can make you think. So this is my recommendation for this weekend a movie that has gone under the table and in fact has been almost forgotten but can be a great choice to watch.

Movie | ¿Que le paso a Lunes? - What happened to Monday? 🎬

This futuristic plot tells the story of some septuplets who were born under this regime, they were raised by their grandfather Terrence Settman secretly who named each one of them by the days of the week but when they went out into the world they would be one person Karen Settman, each one of them would go out depending on their name, on Monday they would go out on Monday, on Tuesday they would go out on Tuesdays and so they would take turns for studies and other activities such as going out to play.

Hablemos de Cielo para dos temporada 3

I must say that the series is quite slow, the chapters could be summarized much more than what we were presented as it becomes a little boring and I must say that sometimes I had to fast forward the series.

Documental Freechain | Mis impresiones

I like that Dan Notestein, leaves open the possibility that freedom maybe won't be complete, at least that was what I perceived, when he says he believes cryptocurrencies will help "somewhat" with freedom. I am one of those who believe that we live under a supposed freedom or a conditional freedom and in which Hive, we can be a little more free, but that we still have a long way to go to see them completely and this will only depend on how far we can go as Web3.
