The Dynamic Duo, Double Trouble: "Two Cops" Kdrama Review

I had an amazing time on this one and I can't express enough my satisfaction through the series. There were the "Oh my gosh!" and "What the hell?!" moments but there was more comedy than the little that should be in a crime and thrilling series.

I got to see the series on a friend's recommendation and she even offered to give me the complete series she had downloaded already, her words were "it's not so interesting but you might like it" and now, I wonder what she didn't like about it.

Unlike most of the series I've seen with my friend in the past weeks, I saw this one alone but somehow I couldn't stop watching until I was done with it (a binge-watch with very little breaks) because the series had me hooked most of the time.

"Two Cops" is a 16 episode Korean drama series released in the year 2017 starring Cha Dong-tak (Jo Jung-suk in "Captivating The King" and "Oh My Ghost") and Gong Su-chang (Kim Seon-ho from Hometown Cha Cha Cha"), a detective and a conman.

Imagine a cop and conman working together to discover and fight crimes.

The series takes on the story of a detective who's after the criminal who took the life of his mentor in the police force and tries to uncover more crimes. While on one of his move, a conman spirit possesses his body after a suspicious attack by some gang.

He began to have a personality duo confusing the people he works with but his efficiency became better when he and the conman got into agreement for their own sakes as he could see the spirit of the conman whenever he is back to himself.

Would the agreement work between them from the beginning? What are the twists that await the two as they uncover crimes?

The creativity in how the spirit possesses the cop in the presence of water and leaving the body at the sight of blood was quite interesting. I also like how well the two played in the scenes with the female lead Song Ji-an starred by Lee Hyeri.

If you'd imagine how an upright and workaholic cop man and a carefree con man work together regardless of their clear differences, you'd imagine how funny and thrilling it would be through every scene as the spirit go in and out of the cop body.

There is also the supporting characters like the friend to the con man who kept pickpocketing to make ends meet and she cares for his body that is in coma at the hospital. And the mentee of the Cop, who falls in love with her in the most weird way.

Every character played key roles in bringing out the comedy, thrills and twists to have viewers hooked. The lessons in the series are fully packed even though there were the "impossible in real life" story and scenes.

There is a lot packed in this series that anyone interested in thrillers and crime scenes, would very much enjoy their time on. The romance part of it isn't lacking either, there was good chemistry even with the dual personality male lead.

We could say the female lead did a great job with her role, no surprises there if you've seen her in "My roommate is a gumiho". Ever since I saw the series, I've been wanting to recommend it as much as I can, wish I could see it again like I'd never did.

I'll give the series a rating of 8/10 and hope that you check it out if you're yet to see it.
