A day and a half | Film Review [En-Es]

Fares Fares is a brilliant Swedish-Lebanese actor whose flimography ranges from major international productions to Swedish films or series. His pronounced facial features make him a very powerful actor in front of the camera, always standing out in any character he plays, although I find he fits very well in both cop and villain roles.
The last thing I had seen of Fares Fares as an actor was The Partisan, an excellent miniseries I reviewed some time ago. His filmography is extensive and I recommend that you look it up and enjoy many productions where the actor lends his talent to the development of the story.
On this occasion, in addition to playing one of the main characters, he has put himself in the director's chair, demonstrating that he not only has acting talent, but also has a firm hand to stand out as a director and has chosen a powerful and intimate thriller, to tell us that we should keep him in mind behind the cameras.
I stumbled upon the film by chance, I'm a little clueless about new releases. It is a Netflix movie, something that can play against, but in the midst of so much mediocre production that has that platform, there are some that can be rescued . thank goodness that in this case the film is remarkable, but keep in mind that it is a very Swedish film. Some of the situations we see in the story are very typical of that culture.

Sus marcados rasgos faciales le convierten en un actor muy potente ante la cámara, destacando siempre en cualquier personaje que interpreta, aunque considero que encaja muy bien tanto en papeles de policía como de villano.
Lo último que había visto de Fares Fares como actor fue El partisano, una excelente miniserie que reseñé hace un tiempo. Además de algunas películas de la saga del expediente Q. Su filmografía es extensa y recomiendo que la busques y disfrutes de muchas producciones donde el actor presta su talento al desarrollo de la historia.
En esta ocasión, además de interpretar a uno de los personajes principales, se ha puesto en la silla de director, demostrando que no sólo tiene talento interpretativo, sino que también tiene mano firme para destacar como director y ha elegido un thriller potente e intimista, para decirnos que debemos tenerle en cuenta detrás de las cámaras.
Me topé con la película por casualidad, ando lago despistado con los nuevos estrenos. Es una película de Netflix, algo que puede jugar en contra, pero en medio de tanta producción mediocre que tiene esa plataforma, hay algunas que se pueden rescatar . menos mal que en este caso la película es notable, pero hay que tener en cuenta que es una película muy sueca. Algunas de las situaciones que vemos en la historia son muy propias de esa cultura.
A simple dispute over the custody of a child can trigger an extreme situation, where everything gets out of control. The human being blinded by anger can commit any madness, being immersed in the spiral of violence and madness provoked, there is no turning back, you have to move forward, improvising on the way and get to the end, even if it is unpleasant and sad for one of the parties involved.
A hostage situation. Three characters, each with their own motivations, will begin a journey in which each will atone for their demons and seek redemption. Lukas, a vigilant policeman, ready to bring everything to a happy ending. Artan, a desperate man who loves his daughter, but his life has fallen apart. Artan's wife Louise, tired of her husband's mistakes, has made some rash decisions. Will she be able to forgive herself? Is there a way out? Or is tragedy inevitable?
Respecting the codes of the Thriller, the tension is maintained all the time, but there is also space for the intimate drama of the characters. The film focuses on them, emphasizing their motivations, feelings and behavior. If they were doing this in Hollywood, they would be inclined to give us a spectacle of action, explosions, gunfights, and so on. But no, this is a film that dwells on the details of the characters, something I personally like a lot.
It highlights the balance between the classic thriller in which the plot starts with a hostage situation and we are kept in expectation of what is going to happen, the way the police act in this type of cases and how the negotiations with the criminal get more and more heated. It is not a film that will go down in history, but for a good time in extreme tension, it is ideal.
Una simple disputa por la custodia de un hijo puede desencadenar una situación extrema, donde todo se descontrola. El ser humano cegado por la ira puede cometer cualquier locura, al verse inmerso en la espiral de violencia y locura provocada, no hay vuelta atrás, hay que seguir adelante, improvisando en el camino y llegar hasta el final, aunque éste sea desagradable y triste para una de las partes implicadas.
Una situación con rehenes. Tres personajes, cada uno con sus propias motivaciones, iniciarán un viaje en el que cada uno expiará sus demonios y buscará la redención. Lukas, un policía vigilante, dispuesto a llevarlo todo a un final feliz. Artan, un hombre desesperado que ama a su hija, pero su vida se ha desmoronado. Louise, la esposa de Artan, cansada de los errores de su marido, ha tomado algunas decisiones precipitadas. ¿Será capaz de perdonarse a sí misma? ¿Existe una salida? ¿O la tragedia es inevitable?
Respetando los códigos del Thriller, la tensión se mantiene todo el tiempo, pero también hay espacio para el drama íntimo de los personajes. La película se centra en ellos, haciendo hincapié en sus motivaciones, sentimientos y comportamiento. Si hicieran esto en Hollywood, se inclinarían por darnos un espectáculo de acción, explosiones, tiroteos, etc. Pero no, es una película que se detiene en los detalles de los personajes, algo que personalmente me gusta mucho.
Destaca el equilibrio entre el thriller clásico en el que la trama arranca con una situación de rehenes y se nos mantiene a la expectativa de lo que va a ocurrir, la forma de actuar de la policía en este tipo de casos y cómo las negociaciones con el criminal se van calentando cada vez más. No es una película que vaya a pasar a la historia, pero para pasar un buen rato en tensión extrema, es ideal.

Alexej Manvelov is a Russian-born actor who plays Artan, the man out of control. The actor has been seen in many Swedish and American series and gives a good performance. Very believable in the role of a father who does not want to be separated from his daughter.
Actress Alma Pöysti plays Louise, the woman in the middle of the conflict who only wants the safety of her daughter, but this horrible experience will make her see her whole life differently. Un día y medio es una buena opción para ver el próximo fin de semana, una separación que se convierte en una situación de rehenes y un policía que quiere salvar la vida de todos. ¿Como terminara todo esto?

Most likely it was not one that would have caught my eye in a list of titles on Netflix. But now it has piqued my curiosity. What sometimes bugs me about some movies in this topic are the flashbacks. They are necessary at times to understand the story and background, but when their frequency or length is abused, for me, they dilute the main story, with unnecessary details, and call into question the good decision in structuring the sequences. Hopefully this one doesn't have too much of that. It's good to know there's some decent quality in Netflix's infinite grid. Regards @jcrodriguez
No. There are no flashbacks in this movie. It all takes place in a day and a half. netflix has good movies. This one is to spend some time with a good Swedish thriller, the actor who directs it is very good , I recommend you to watch other of his movies as an actor.

Un tema totalmente apegado a la realidad, se siente la tensión con solo leer la reseña y cuando se trata de la custodia de los hijos, todo el ambiente tiembla, es un dolor muy grande para un padre responsable que ama a sus hijos. Me hiciste recordar a mi esposo a él le gusta mucho estás película y por lo que lei ps sin duda se ve muy buena. Se que no viene el caso pero recordé esos días que veía películas con el ya hace un año que no está conmigo está en usa y PS me hace mucha falta jaja pero en fin ando sentimental. Recomiéndasela para que la vea, aunque no tiene mucha acción, es mas tensión por la situación limite y se enfoca mas en los personajes. Esta en netflix, fácil de encontrar. pronto te vasa también a USA, American life !! Saludos muchachona 😆 gracias por pasar
Las situaciones extremas pueden llevar a decisiones precipitadas y desesperadas. Es muy complicado pensar con la mente en caliente, porque no se razona.
Me hizo recordar, salvando las distancias, cuando mis padres se separaron, si mi madre no hubiera pensado bien, no se que hubiera pasado...

La he querido ver pero al final no me decidía, leyéndote le voy a echar un ojo. El Partisano, tremenda serie, la recuerdo y creo que Fares Fares salió en Chernóbil también si mal no recuerdo. Esta interesante, estás hablando bien de ella, debe de ser buenaza, capaz este fin me la lanzo. Me gusta la expectativa y la intriga, que todo sea impredecible, no hay nada más fastidioso que cuando todo se vuelve plano y ya intuyes que va a pasar.
No es algo que impacte, se deja ver, para pasar un rato entretenido pro saber como se desarrolla la historia. Algunas escenas son muy propia de la cultura sueca, quizás en una versión americana tendría mas acción.

Se ve interesante está película, la he visto en otras plataformas y no pensaba que era de Netflix; tal vez decida verla en estos días que aunque quiero aprovechar para ver varias series que tengo pendiente.
