Como ya he venido diciendo desde hace un tiempo Hollywood viene sufriendo una grave crisis de falta de creatividad y diría que hasta de cultura a la hora de pensar y crear nuevas producciones en el cine. No es posible que lo que abunda últimamente son todos remakes, secuelas y partes 2 de films que alguna vez deslumbraron las salas. Historias que parecían estar culminadas vienen años después a querer revivirlas innecesariamente o como es este caso a hacer una historia paralela con casi todos los elementos de aquella película de los noventas que la verdad nadie pidió. Mi punto es criticar el hecho de la existencia del film, ahora, vale la pena? - eso es otra cosa.

As I have been saying for some time now, Hollywood has been suffering a serious crisis of lack of creativity and I would even say lack of culture when it comes to thinking and creating new productions in cinema. It is not possible that what abounds lately are all remakes, sequels and part 2 of films that once dazzled theaters. Stories that seemed to be culminated come years later to want to revive them unnecessarily or as in this case to make a parallel story with almost all the elements of that movie of the nineties that nobody really asked for. My point is to criticize the fact of the existence of the film, now, is it worth it? - that's another thing.

Esta historia se vive casi 20 años después de lo sucedido en la primera película aunque en esta no hagan alusión a nada de aquel film. Tenemos a Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), una cazadora de tormentas y tornados la cual siempre ha estado involucrada en este mundo pero que gracias a una tragedia que la dejó bastante mal y marcada decidió dejar a un lado todo este mundo e irse lo más lejos a estudiar el clima pero detrás de una pantalla. La cosa es que como la vida da muchas vueltas un día se encuentra con unos de sus amigos universitarios, Javi (Anthony Ramos), con quien cazaba hace varios años, y este le propone volver al ruedo con el plus de que ahora él tiene un mejor equipo y así los datos recolectados serán más eficientes por lo que a más personas podrán ayudar en un futuro.

This story takes place almost 20 years after what happened in the first film, although this one does not allude to anything in that film. We have Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a storm chaser and tornadoes which has always been involved in this world but thanks to a tragedy that left her pretty bad and marked decided to leave aside all this world and go as far away to study the weather but behind a screen. The thing is that as life takes many turns one day she meets one of her university friends, Javi (Anthony Ramos), with whom she hunted several years ago, and he proposes to return to the arena with the bonus that now he has better equipment and so the data collected will be more efficient so more people can help in the future.

En ese camino conocen a Tyler Owens (Glen Powell) quien también es un cazador pero este lo hace de una forma más mediática y más enfocada en el espectáculo que puede generar. La realidad es que conforme va avanzando la historia Kate se va dando cuenta de cosas que empiezan a no gustarle por lo que poco a poco su visión de trabajo va cambiando. Javi oculta algo y Tyler también, qué cosa? - sus intenciones y es ahí donde cambia el juego completamente. En verdad esta película. al igual que la que fue protagonizada por Helen Hunt y Bill Paxton en el 96, solamente va de cazar tornados, una trama como tal existe pero para mi es solo para dar un poco de cuerpo a la película y que no sea tan vacía.

In truth this movie, like the one starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton in '96, is only about chasing tornadoes, a plot as such exists but for me it is just to give a little body to the film and not be so empty.

Y es que lo que verdaderamente vale la pena son los efectos especiales y todo el CGI que trae. Esto es complicado porque estamos hablando de crear visuales naturales que se van sumamente realistas y creería que eso es muy difícil de lograr. Acá vemos todo el tema de los tornados, las tormentas, las formaciones de nubes, lluvia, granizo y sinceramente siento que todo lo lograron a la altura, en ningún momento sentí que estaba viendo algo de baja calidad o por lo menos en pantalla no se nota. En películas de desastres naturales todas las escenas que son durante y las del post tienen mucha complejidad porque la cantidad de elementos que hay que manejar es grande, porque además de lo natural hay que recrear todo el desastre material y que va generando y eso también se vio muy bien. Ninguna queja en este departamento.

This is complicated because we are talking about creating natural visuals that are extremely realistic and I would think that is very difficult to achieve. Here we see the whole theme of tornadoes, storms, cloud formations, rain, hail and I sincerely feel that everything was achieved at the height, at no time I felt I was watching something of low quality or at least on screen it is not noticeable. In natural disaster movies all the scenes during and after the disaster are very complex because the amount of elements that have to be handled is great, because in addition to the natural disaster you have to recreate all the material disaster and that is generating and that also looked very good. No complaints in this department.

Hay muchos guiños a la película original, escenas míticas, el nombre de algunos equipos, visuales; creo que lo que buscaron es recrear una versión mejorada pero respetando el legado de la anterior. Como dije a nivel de trama no hay nada, pero es increíblemente entretenida porque todo es una aventura con buenos efectos. El antes, durante y después de una tormenta, todo ese proceso de caza se disfruta, no cansa para nada. En cuanto a los personajes pues decir que Daisy estuvo bien, una actriz joven promedio que creo cumplió con el papel. Glen es un tipo que tiene carisma y que este tipo de película parece que se le dan bastante bien. La química entre los dos es muy buena, eso ayuda a que todo fluya mejor.

There are many winks to the original movie, mythical scenes, the name of some teams, visuals; I think what they sought is to recreate an improved version but respecting the legacy of the previous one. As I said at the plot level there is nothing, but it is incredibly entertaining because everything is an adventure with good effects. The before, during and after a storm, the whole hunting process is enjoyable, not tiring at all. As for the characters, Daisy was good, an average young actress who I think fulfilled the role. Glen is a guy who has charisma and this type of film seems to be quite good for him. The chemistry between the two is very good, that helps everything flow better.

En fin, creo que es un buen remake, lo sigo viendo innecesario pero la película en términos generales por lo menos para mi es bastante buena. Es muy complicado hacer algo de este estilo y que salga bien porque por lo general las personas siempre se van a quedar con la original por un tema de nostalgia pero en este caso considero que le hace mucho mérito esta nueva entrega a su predecesora. Buenos efectos, muy entretenida, ideal para pasar el rato. Le doy un 8/10, vale mucho la pena. Dura casi dos horas, un poco larga pero igualmente no se hace pesada. Les dejo el tráiler por acá.

Anyway, I think it's a good remake, I still see it unnecessary but the movie in general terms at least for me is pretty good. It is very difficult to do something of this style and get it right because usually people will always stay with the original for a nostalgia issue but in this case I think this new installment does much merit to its predecessor. Good effects, very entertaining, ideal for hanging out. I give it an 8/10, it's worth it. It lasts almost two hours, a little long but still not heavy. I leave the trailer here.

No se si viste la del 96 pero es muy parecida. En caso de que no la hayas visto, pues si, en efecto está muy buena. El tiempo creo que no lo vas a perder!

I finished watching this movie yesterday night. I was based on a very unique concept. The movie hook you up from the very beginning. It was not boring at all. Instead it was super interesting. Thanks for sharing your opinion with us. 😊💕
