Este lunes decidí tener un día enfocado solo en mí, lo necesitaba, e hice distintas cosas que me hacen feliz, entre esas está ir al cine. Adoro ver películas. Era la primera vez que iba sola al cine, pero fue más chévere de lo que imaginé, y ya estoy pensando ir de nuevo🤭

Los que me conocen saben que me siento atraída por los mundos distópicos, cualquier cosa afuera de la normalidad, por eso no es una sorpresa que me encante Dune. La primera parte fue una película muy buena, así que esperaba con emoción esta nueva entrega, y no me decepcionó en ningún momento. Por lo tanto, sin spoiler, te daré mi opinión sobre la aventura de Paul Atreides en Dune✨

This Monday I decided to have a day focused only on me, I needed it, and I did different things that make me happy, among those is going to the movies. I love watching movies. It was the first time I went alone to the movies, but it was cooler than I imagined, and I'm already thinking about going again🤭

Those who know me know that I'm drawn to dystopian worlds, anything outside of normality, so it's no surprise that I love Dune. The first part was a very good movie, so I was looking forward to this new installment with excitement, and it didn't disappoint at any point. So, without spoiler, I'll give you my take on Paul Atreides' adventure in Dune ✨.

Después de la serie de desgracias acontecidas en la primera parte de Dune, en esta nueva película nos encontramos con el planeta de Arrakis atravesando una guerra entre el pueblo de los Fremen y el Imperio. Continúa en el punto de culminación de la película anterior, por lo tanto, vemos a un Paul Atreides intentando acoplarse al estilo de vida de los Fremen, y a pesar de que todo comienza por su búsqueda de venganza por la traición hacia su Casa, el desenlace es mayor a lo que él esperaba, debido a que existe una profecía que menciona un mesías que guiará a los Fremen hacía un mundo verde, lleno de vida y esperanzas. ¿Es Paul el Lisan Al-Gaib que estas personas esperaron por años?

After the series of misfortunes that occurred in the first part of Dune, in this new film we find the planet of Arrakis going through a war between the Fremen people and the Empire. It continues at the point of culmination of the previous film, therefore, we see a Paul Atreides trying to fit into the Fremen lifestyle, and although it all begins with his quest for revenge for the betrayal of his House, the outcome is greater than he expected, because there is a prophecy that mentions a messiah who will lead the Fremen to a green world, full of life and hope. Is Paul the Lisan Al-Gaib that these people waited for years?

You will discover this while trying to protect yourself and fight against the attacks of the Harkonnen, one of the greatest enemies of the Atreides, in charge of the spice trade, a material only found in the arid environment of Arrakis, with several relevant uses such as interstellar travel.

Como ya mencioné, me encanta consumir cualquier historia que no esté dentro de los parámetros de la normalidad, ya sea en la pantalla o en un libro, y por supuesto Dune era una gran opción para mí. Nos presenta no solo un planeta, sino un Universo diferente, con una sociedad que está a siglos de evolución de nosotros; pero, sin embargo, los problemas no son tan lejanos a los de la actualidad.

En Dune estaremos en un país desértico, donde existe una extrema escasez del agua, recurso vital para cada ser vivo; donde el país está siendo invadido por la recolección de un material importante para el desarrollo de estas civilizaciones, que solo se encuentra allí, y dichos actos genera un enfrentamiento sangriento entre los invasores y los nativos. ¿Muy parecido a la realidad? La diferencia es que aquí existen gusanos gigantes que devoran todo en su camino, naves espaciales que pueden recorrer con facilidad un planeta a otro, armas y técnicas de supervivencia que tan solo son una idea para nosotros. Lo mejor de Dune es que para el observador es un mundo distópico, diferente e indeseable, personas oprimidas por el poder egoísta, pero quitando a los monstruos y la tecnología increíblemente avanzada, ¿qué tan lejos estamos de llegar a algo similar?

As I mentioned, I love to consume any story that is not within the parameters of normality, whether on screen or in a book, and of course Dune was a great choice for me. It presents us with not only a planet, but a different Universe, with a society that is centuries of evolution away from us; but yet the problems are not so far removed from those of today.

In Dune we will be in a desert country, where there is an extreme shortage of water, a vital resource for every living being; where the country is being invaded by the collection of an important material for the development of these civilizations, which is only found there, and these acts generate a bloody confrontation between the invaders and the natives. Very similar to reality? The difference is that here there are giant worms that devour everything in their path, spaceships that can easily travel from one planet to another, weapons and survival techniques that are just an idea for us. The best thing about Dune is that for the observer it is a dystopian world, different and undesirable, people oppressed by selfish power, but taking away the monsters and the incredibly advanced technology, how far are we from reaching something similar?

La principal razón de la lucha en Arrakis, es el poder. El comercio de una sustancia que se ha convertido tan indispensable como el agua o el aire mismo, y quien lo posea tendrá el control de todo. Y aunque podríamos pensar que el pueblo Fremen estaría en desventaja con el arsenal de la casa Harkonnen, la verdad es que disfruté ver como (literalmente) se levantaban de la arena y atacaban con todo lo que tenían, no se puede negar que son excelentes luchadores, aprenden rápido, y tienen un instinto de supervivencia que ningún otro pueda ganarle.

Al mismo tiempo, me encanta la mezcla entre política y religión, dado que la batalla externa es por fines políticos y económicos, pero existe una batalla interna guiada por la fe. La creencia de la llegada de un mesías, que salvará al pueblo de la intemperie del desierto; no todos comparten esta visión, y se siente la tensión civil en el desarrollo de la historia. Por lo tanto, Dune no es solo una película con notables efectos visuales, sino que posee una trama profunda y bien desarrollada como base.

The main reason for the struggle in Arrakis is power. The trade of a substance that has become as indispensable as water or air itself, and whoever possesses it will have control of everything. And although we might think that the Fremen people would be at a disadvantage with the arsenal of the Harkonnen house, the truth is that I enjoyed watching them (literally) get up from the arena and attack with everything they had, there is no denying that they are excellent fighters, they learn fast, and they have a survival instinct that no other can beat.

At the same time, I love the mix between politics and religion, since the external battle is for political and economic ends, but there is an internal battle guided by faith. The belief in the coming of a messiah, who will save the people from the wilderness; not everyone shares this vision, and you can feel the civil tension in the unfolding of the story. Therefore, Dune is not only a film with remarkable visual effects, but it has a deep and well-developed plot at its core.

En Dune: Parte Uno, se nos presentó los personajes principales, su lugar en la historia, nos ayudó a entrar en este nuevo mundo e intentar comprender su complejidad, y gracias a esta introducción la Parte Dos no es tan pesada, en comparación. Paul Atreides, debe aprender las costumbres Fremen, para lograr ser aceptado y cumplir su propósito, y sin ninguna duda, la escena en que aprende a montar a un gusano de arena fue mi favorita; el ser humano tiene una hermosa capacidad de adaptación, y Paul demuestra eso.

Timothée Chalamet, realiza un trabajo excelente, es perfecto para darle vida a Paul, y no puedo imaginar a otro actor con ese papel. Este personaje es muy dinámico, es un joven que vivía en tranquilidad y con beneficios, que pierde todo en una sola noche, debe viajar con desconocidos, aprender acerca de esta civilización completamente distinta a lo que él conocía, adaptarse y lograr ser aceptado; al mismo tiempo, debe llevar el dolor de la pérdida de sus seres queridos, el deseo de venganza por la traición a su pueblo, los sentimientos románticos al conocer a la chica con la cual soñaba, luchar hasta la muerte con el enemigo, y además, ser el salvador de este pueblo. ¡Totalmente complicado! Pero Chalamet representa de manera sobresaliente cada etapa en la vida de Paul, y logras conectar con el desarrollo del personaje.

In Dune: Part One, we were introduced to the main characters, their place in the story, it helped us enter this new world and try to understand its complexity, and thanks to this introduction Part Two is not so heavy by comparison. Paul Atreides, must learn the Fremen ways, in order to achieve acceptance and fulfill his purpose, and without any doubt, the scene where he learns to ride a sandworm was my favorite; human beings have a beautiful ability to adapt, and Paul demonstrates that.

Timothée Chalamet does an excellent job, he is perfect to give life to Paul, and I can't imagine another actor in that role. This character is very dynamic, he's a young man who lived in tranquility and with benefits, who loses everything in one night, he must travel with strangers, learn about this civilization completely different from what he knew, adapt and become accepted; at the same time, he must carry the pain of the loss of his loved ones, the desire for revenge for the betrayal of his people, the romantic feelings of meeting the girl he dreamed of, fight to the death with the enemy, and also be the savior of this people. Totally complicated! But Chalamet is outstanding in his portrayal of each stage of Paul's life, and you get to connect with the character's development.

Otro personaje que debemos aplaudir es a Chani, interpretada por la maravillosa Zendaya, desde el principio demostró su fuerza e inteligencia, perseverancia y el sacrificio por el bienestar de su gente. Ella es fiel a sus creencias, objetiva, y no desea esperar que un salvador aparezca en algún momento incierto, sino que apoya la idea de que ellos mismos tienen la responsabilidad de salvarse entre sí. Zendaya ha demostrado ser una actriz increíble, no hay duda de que este es uno de sus mejores roles, y que otorgó gran parte de su esencia al personaje, razón por la cual se siente real. Es mi personaje favorito, concuerdo con su visión, y es un personaje que está bien definido.

Y aunque ambas películas de Dune está repleta de actores magníficos, hay que hacer una mención honorífica a Austin Butler, quien interpreta al psicópata de Feyd-Rautha, perteneciente a la Casa de los Harkonnen. Butler ha estado demostrando que tiene una buena habilidad en la actuación e hizo un excelente trabajo, la crueldad y sadismo del personaje lo demostró en cada momento, lo odias, pero al mismo tiempo reconoces que es un personaje interesante y relevante.

Another character we must applaud is Chani, played by the wonderful Zendaya, from the beginning she demonstrated her strength and intelligence, perseverance and sacrifice for the welfare of her people. She is true to her beliefs, objective, and unwilling to wait for a savior to appear at some uncertain time, but rather supports the idea that they themselves have the responsibility to save each other. Zendaya has proven herself to be an amazing actress, there is no doubt that this is one of her best roles, and that she bestowed much of her essence to the character, which is why it feels real. She is my favorite character, I agree with her vision, and it is a character that is well defined.

And while both Dune films are filled with superb actors, an honorable mention must go to Austin Butler, who plays the psychopathic Feyd-Rautha, who belongs to the House of Harkonnen. Butler has been proving that he has a good acting ability and did an excellent job, the cruelty and sadism of the character showed in every moment, you hate him, but at the same time you recognize that he is an interesting and relevant character.

Creo que una de las mejores virtudes que tiene esta película son sus efectos visuales, Dune está hecha para ser vista en la pantalla grande de un cine y lograr sumergirte tanto en su historia como en las arenas de Arrakis. Sabemos que es una trama futurista, pero hay algo en la magia de esta película que te hace sentir que todo es real, demostrando que con el gran avance de la tecnología se pueden realizar proyectos increíbles. Probablemente, el mérito se lo debe llevar Frank Herbert, escritor de los libros que dieron origen a las películas, de alguna manera logró crear una historia tan bien desarrollada que te hace sentir parte de ella, pero al mismo tiempo hay que mencionar la dirección de Denis Villeneuve, quién logró hacer realidad la visión de Herbert.

Adicional a los hermosos y detallados efectos visuales, hay que agregar los efectos de sonido, las melodías perfectas en los momentos ideales, sumando la tensión y aumentando la acción, ayudando que el corazón se te acelere por la emoción, y que estés en la expectativa de la próxima escena. En fin, Dune es una obra llena de detalles que crean una gran armonía.

I think that one of the best virtues of this film are its visual effects, Dune is made to be seen on the big screen of a movie theater and immerse yourself in its story as well as in the sands of Arrakis. We know it is a futuristic plot, but there is something in the magic of this movie that makes you feel that everything is real, demonstrating that with the great advance of technology incredible projects can be made. Probably, the credit goes to Frank Herbert, writer of the books that gave rise to the films, somehow he managed to create a story so well developed that makes you feel part of it, but at the same time we must mention the direction of Denis Villeneuve, who managed to realize Herbert's vision.

In addition to the beautiful and detailed visual effects, we must add the sound effects, the perfect melodies at the ideal moments, adding tension and increasing the action, helping to make your heart race with emotion, and to keep you in expectation of the next scene. In short, Dune is a work full of details that create a great harmony.

Son dos horas y media de película, en una montaña rusa de emociones, y justo en el momento en que puede comenzar a estar un poco pesada, sucede algo en la historia que te ayuda a retomar el hilo de la atención, por lo tanto, siempre vas a estar conectado con lo que está sucediendo.

Es muy notorio el amor, dedicación, esfuerzo y trabajo que le entregaron a cada secuencia de Dune, y desde mi opinión es una película que merece tomarse el tiempo de verla, digerirla, y disfrutarla. Sinceramente, no es para todo público, porque sí puede resultar pesada, pero aquellos que aman salirse de la realidad por un momento, viajar a nuevos mundos y presenciar grandes batallas, entonces deberían verla🩷

It is very noticeable the love, dedication, effort, and work that they gave to each sequence of Dune, and in my opinion it is a film that deserves to take the time to watch it, digest it, and enjoy it. Honestly, it is not for all audiences, because it can be heavy, but those who love to get out of reality for a moment, travel to new worlds and witness great battles, then they should watch it🩷
