"Alita: Battle Angel" by Robert Rodriguez: A Movie that Leaves You Wanting More

Greetings!

It has been a while since I watched a movie that I liked very much, let alone a movie with a female protagonist. I am a huge fan of sci-fi (cyberpunk) and martial arts. When these two were fused in "Alita: Battle Angel" I was immediately hooked. I am hearing about "Battle Angel Alita" as a manga before "Alita: Battle Angel" was released.

"Alita: Battle Angel" was based on a Japanese manga titled "Gunnm" by "Yukito Yoshiro". Although I haven't read the manga I am seeing a lot of it in the interest thus giving me an idea of what to expect with the movie adaptation "Alita: Battle Angel" directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by world-renowned producer, James Cameron.

The movie's narrative focuses on the story of a female cyborg set in the cyberpunk world of Zalem and Iron City. Since it is cyberpunk you can see a lot of its elements like lowlife and high tech fused in each and every scene of the movie with some surprises and twists.

I like the beginning of the movie, the idea of the scrap yard is exciting because it is where Alita was found and from that moment I wondered why she ended up in the scrap yard.

The beginning is interesting and also makes me curious as to why Alita ended up in the scrap yard. Also, the appearance of Alita when she was found by Dr. Dyson Ido makes me wonder what happened to her and why she only got half of her body.

Alita was found by Dr. Dyson Ido in the scrap yard beneath the sky city called Zalem

And then it gets more interesting when Dr. Dyson Ido decides to give her a body (the body that Dr. Dyson Ido originally built for her deceased daughter).

Apart from that, the movie got more interesting because as I understand it, 300 years have already passed before Dr. Dyson Ido found Alita in the scrap yard. Has Alita been in the scrap yard for 300 years?

By the way, the sight of falling trash from the sky city of Zalem is great a opening for any movie that I have seen in the genre of cyberpunk (sci-fi).

I also like the next scene after Dr. Dyson Ido gave Alita a body, the scene where Alita woke up from sleeping. If I understand it right, Alita's been asleep for 300 years.

Alite woke up from her sleep for over 300 years?

I also like the scene transition in the part of the movie when Alita jumps from atop to sever the arm of Grewishka and then the scene transitions to the moment when Alita is fighting on the moon together with URM soldiers. I think this is the first time that I saw this scene transition and then at the same time it was used to make Alita remember some of her past, it is a brilliant scene and scene transition if you ask me.

The kick and the moon scene transition in the movie make Alita remember some of her past. This is a brilliant scene transition with two things in mind "scene transition" and "memory flashback"

The moment when Dr. Dyson Ido divulged the origin of the name he gave her was brilliant. I never thought that Dr. Dyson Ido's daughter was Alita.

From that moment I knew that the story was great since it never got me bored and watching and still wanting more information for the movie.

I also like to add that I like the the monocycle ridden by Hugo and the scene when Hugo brings Alita to the rooftop of an old building where the last of the sky city, Zalem, can be wholly seen.

The monocycle owned by Hugo (left) and the view of Zalem (right)

I thought that the movie didn't have any dark secrets or surprises but then it was revealed that Hugo is actually doing some dirty side jobs so that he can fulfill his dream of going to the sky city of Zalem. Another revelation that surprises me is that Vector doesn't want any champion that is greater than the game therefore giving me the thought that no champion will be ever going to Zalem.

And then there's also the revelation of the lost fighting technique of Panzer Kunst, the lost art of fighting used by the berserker like Alita during the Fall (300 years ago).

Another surprise in the movie is when Hugo recognizes the new upgrade attached to Grewishka which they got from the previous winner of Motoball.

All in all the movie is great and entertaining which makes me want more. The story is also great as it did not go astray much of the movie. The costumes too are exactly look like what a cyberpunk movie would look like. But it didn't prevent me from wondering and thinking about some scenes because of the lack of information especially why Alita ended up in the scrap yard and how she managed to stay alive for more than three hundred years in the scrapyard. It also made me assume that Nova (the main antagonist of the movie) is more than three hundred years old.

If you are a fan of cyberpunk then this movie is definitely for you. Also if you are a fan of movie adaptations of mangas then this movie is also for you. There are a few differences between the manga and the movie it didn't take away the greatness of the movie.

You may not want the huge eye of Alita the first time that you are going to see it but believe me you are going to like it since it makes the character unique. Also, do not expect much of the humanity of the protagonists because when it comes to battle she can definitely kill as what she did with Vector and saying "You just lost a puppet" and it goes to show that she is indeed a warrior, the last of her kind, a killer, a warrior, and a fighter.

I definitely recommend this movie.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.

Last I heard was they will not be making the part 2. But they should. I love this one and watched it at 4k at my friends house. It was amazing.
Characters other than Alita feels weak, I even did not remember the name of the boy until now 😄😁 except the doctor, of course he is amazing, but lets hope for part 2 🙏

I loved every part of this movie. The action was top notch and mind blowing.
Alita's body was revamp in a much better way by Dr dyson. If I can remember clearly she was involved in a deadly race with other antagonists who wanted to get rid of her.

I should definitely watch it again.
