Sometimes I just need a movie that makes me laugh in my free time or makes me disconnect my brain when I need to rest. There are a thousand of those and the comedies most of the time are simple, when they are not so familiar what they are looking for is a banal humor that is much appreciated, but sometimes some gems stand out that more than leaving us some laughs, they fill us with feeling, comedies that are full of details that in the end turn that movie into not only a comedy movie, but an experience that for most, stays in your heart.

We all know Click, and it reminds us how great an actor Adam Sandler (a person I love) can be, since his farting and punching comedy at the beginning of the movie is something that makes us think that the movie will be the same as any other silly movie of the actor, but as the movie progresses we find a life lesson in such a painful way that it even seems unfair, but that is what the movie does in several moments, to explain us that even though life is unfair we have to endure every moment of life in the best way. I find it beautiful, but maybe and only maybe, it is because of Click that many people forget a great dad, a "comedy" movie where Adam Sandler adopts a child and that, at least for me, made me cry my eyes out with its ending that stayed with me for a long time and brought me sadness but happiness at the same time.

Something similar happened to me when I saw About Time, which I remember watching for the first time on TV one bored Sunday with my dad. We put it on because we thought it was a comedy (and well, in part it is), but by the end of the movie I was so grateful to have my dad and to be alive that now for me it is a necessary movie to know me, even though it is a romantic comedy movie and I don't like romantic comedies. But About Time has something different and anyone who has seen it understands that, it's not just the love of life, it's also that colorful vibe that you feel throughout the whole movie by being so silly but at the same time, realizing when to get serious and show us real conflicts and even existential questions.

And for existential doubts it's rare to find a comedy film, isn't it? Well, Everything Everywhere All At Once does well with being an existential comedy film, but let's talk about the pioneer, of what is now one of the best films in history: The Truman Show. With a spectacular Ed Harris and a beautiful Jim Carrey, The Truman Show literally changed the way the world saw the actor, but it's not just changing the actor's life to prove he can do more than comedy, the film also works to rethink how we live life, how technology works and even, in retrospect, it feels like a meta film that is way ahead of its time, this, without losing its essence as a comedy film.

A veces solo necesito una película que me haga reír en mi tiempo libre o me haga desconectar el cerebro cuando necesito descansar. De esas hay mil y las comedias la mayoría del tiempo son simples, cuando no son tan familiares lo que buscan es un humor banal que se agradece mucho, pero a veces resaltan algunas joyas que más que dejarnos algunas carcajadas, nos llenan de sentimiento, comedias que están llenas de detalles que al final convierten a esa película en no solo una película de comedia, sino en una experiencia que para la mayoría, se queda en su corazón.

Todos conocemos Click, y nos recuerda lo gran actor que puede llegar a ser Adam Sandler (persona que amo), ya que su comedia de pedos y golpes al principio de la película es algo que nos hace pensar que la película será igual que cualquier otra película tonta del actor, pero mientras avanza la película nos encontramos con una lección de vida de una forma tan dolorosa que parece incluso injusto, pero de eso se encarga la película en varios momentos, a explicarnos que a pesar de que la vida es injusta hay que aguantar todos los momentos de la vida de la mejor manera. Me parece hermoso, pero tal vez y solo tal vez, es debido a Click que mucha gente se olvida un papá genial, película de “comedia” dónde Adam Sandler adopta a un niño y que, por lo menos a mí, me hizo llorar a mares con su final que por mucho tiempo se quedó conmigo y me trajo tristeza pero a su vez felicidad.

Algo parecido me pasó al ver About Time, que recuerdo haberla visto por primera vez en la tv un domingo aburrido junto a mi papá. La pusimos porque creíamos que era comedia (y bueno, en parte si es), pero al llegar al final de la película yo me sentía tan agradecido de tener a mi papá y de vivir que ahora para mí es una película necesaria para conocerme, a pesar de que es una película de comedia romántica y no me gustan las comedias románticas. Pero About Time tiene algo diferente y cualquier persona que la haya visto lo entiende, no es solo el amor a la vida, es también esa colorida vibra que se siente durante toda la película al ser tan tonta pero a su vez, darse cuenta de cuándo se tiene que poner seria y mostrarnos conflictos verdaderos e incluso preguntas existenciales.

Y para dudas existenciales es raro encontrar una película de comedia, ¿no? Bueno, Everything Everywhere All At Once se luce con ser una película de comedia existencial, pero hablemos de la pionera, de lo que ahora es una de las mejores películas de la historia: The Truman Show. Con un espectacular Ed Harris y un hermoso Jim Carrey, The Truman Show cambió literalmente la forma en el que el mundo veía al actor, pero no es solo cambiar la vida del actor para demostrar que puede hacer más que comedia, sino que la película también funciona para replantearnos cómo vivir la vida, cómo funciona la tecnología e incluso, viéndola en retrospectiva, se siente como una película meta que está sumamente adelantada a su época, esto, sin perder su esencia de película de comedia.

I haven't seen any of them, but I agree with you that sometimes, (many times) comedy movies and the ones we least expect it leave us with a reflection and don't make us delve into things we overlook or want to turn a blind eye to.

No he visto ninguna, pero concuerdo contigo en que a veces, (muchas veces) las películas de comedia y de las que menos lo esperamos nos dejan una reflexión y no hacen profundizar en cosas que pasamos por alto o con las que queremos hacernos la vista gorda.
