Hello, Hive friends.

Hola, amigos de Hive.

Today I come to tell you about a movie I saw recently, which is called My Oni Girl and is a Studio Colorido production released in May 2024 and distributed by Netflix.

Hoy vengo a hablarles sobre una película que vi hace poco, la cual se llama Mi querida Oni y es una producción de Studio Colorido estrenada en Mayo de 2024 y distribuida por Netflix.

In this movie we meet Hiragi, a boy unable to say "no" when asked for favors, so his classmates usually take advantage of him, plus he doesn't usually express what he really thinks or feels.

En esta película conocemos a Hiragi, un chico incapaz de decir «no» cuando le piden favores, por lo que sus compañeros usualmente se aprovechan de él, además que no suele expresar lo que realmente piensa o siente.

But all this will change when he meets a oni girl named Tsumugi, with whom he will embark on a journey in search of her mother, who disappeared some time ago, where he will face trials that will make him think and reflect on his life.

Pero todo esto cambiará cuando conozca a una chica oni llamada Tsumugi, con quien emprenderá un viaje en busca de la madre de ésta, quien desapareció hace un tiempo, en donde se enfrentará a pruebas que lo harán pensar y reflexionar sobre su vida.

Among the strengths of the film we find its excellent animation and character design. The different landscapes that we are shown throughout the journey of the protagonists are wonderful and of great beauty.

Entre los puntos fuertes de la película encontramos su excelente animación y el diseño de personajes. Los diferentes paisajes que nos muestran a lo largo del viaje de los protagonistas son maravillosos y de una gran belleza.

Both the main and supporting characters are very well designed and have a good development throughout the story, mainly Hiragi and Tsumugi, for obvious reasons.

Tanto los personajes principales y secundarios están muy bien diseñados y tienen un buen desarrollo a lo largo de la historia, principalmente Hiragi y Tsumugi, por obvias razones.

Another strong point is the participation of the secondary characters in the plot, as they have great relevance in the growth of our protagonists and are not simply left aside, contributing their grain of sand to the plot.

Otro punto fuerte vendría siendo la participación de los personajes secundarios en la trama, ya que tienen gran relevancia en el crecimiento de nuestros protagonistas y no son dejados de lado sin más, aportando su granito de arena a la trama.

I also quite liked the design and the role that the Snow Gods fulfilled, as I felt they were crucial in bringing the main characters together and starting their growth.

También me gustó bastante el diseño y el papel que cumplieron los Dioses de la nieve, ya que me parece que fueron cruciales en la unión de los personajes principales y en el inicio de su crecimiento.

However, as it couldn't be perfect, the film has a pretty major weakness and that is nothing more and nothing less than its own plot.

Sin embargo, como no podía ser perfecta, la película tiene un punto débil bastante importante y es nada más y nada menos que su propia trama.

The film has good pacing and doesn't feel heavy at any point, but the growth of the main characters was stunted at a certain point because the plot felt a bit simple.

La película tiene buen ritmo y no se siente pesada en ningún momento, pero el crecimiento de los personajes principales se vio estancado en cierto punto debido a que la trama se sintió un poco simple.

In my opinion, the climax of the story lacked some element that would deepen Hiragi and Tsumugi's relationship more, because at the end it's not very clear if they just wanted to be friends or there was some romantic complement between them.

A mi parecer, en el climax de la historia faltó algún elemento que profundizara más en la relación de Hiragi y Tsumugi, porque al final no queda muy claro si solo querían ser amigos o había algún complemento romántico entre ellos.

As a conclusion, I can say that My Dear Oni is an improvable but quite enjoyable film and if I had to choose my favorite aspect, I would say without hesitation its animation.

Como conclusión, puedo decir que Mi querida Oni es una película mejorable pero bastante disfrutable y si tuviera que elegir mi aspecto favorito, diría sin dudar que su animación.

In my opinion it is a bit weak in aspects such as action and romance and they could have gone deeper into that to give more impact and depth to the plot, which ultimately feels light on weight.

A mi parecer es un poco floja en aspectos como la acción y el romance y podrían haber profundizado en eso para darle más impacto y profundidad a la trama, que a la larga se siente con poco peso.

However, the interactions with other characters throughout the journey and seeing how our main characters grow and evolve because of these is quite enjoyable and keeps the film from feeling dull and heavy.

Sin embargo, las interacciones con otros personajes a lo largo del viaje y el ver cómo nuestros personajes principales crecen y evolucionando debido a estas es bastante agradable y hacen que la película no se sienta aburrida ni pesada.

In short, it is a film from which more could be expected. Its animation and characters are excellent but the plot is a bit difficult to sustain, which does not allow for a proper enjoyment of it.

En resumen, es una película de la que podría esperarse más. Su animación y personajes son excelentes pero cuesta un poco sostener el argumento, lo que no permite un debido disfrute de la misma.
