One more episode
Greetings!
I'm someone who finds watching movies a time-consuming leisure activity, especially if the movie seems endless. It's not like I'm the busiest person on earth, but I do get busy a lot. Oftentimes, I fight the urge to watch movies because I know that once I start and the movie becomes interesting, it will pull me away from my daily activities and even cut into my sleeping time. That's how my body reacts to interesting movies.
Talking about the longest time I spent watching a movie: that would be up to three months. Hold on, I don’t mean I spent all the hours in those three months just watching the movie, but when you look at it closely, it almost feels like that. The movie I watched was The Walking Dead series, which has 11 seasons (not counting the spin-offs), and wow, the series enchanted and captured my heart. It made my day feel useless because there's always the urge for "one more episode."
No doubt, 11 seasons is something a movie freak could finish within a week, but come on, that person mustn't have anything else useful to do to achieve such a feat. Like I said earlier, my time is always crying for attention, so I made sure I was able to resist the magnetic pull of "just one more episode," though I did give in to that urge multiple times.
There were days I spent the entire night watching this series because the current episode always ended with a must watch suspense, and I just couldn’t stop without seeing what happens next. That's to show you how captivating the series is. On those nights, I found myself sleeping around 4 a.m. and waking up at 7 a.m. to the sound of customers banging on my door. The worst part is, I can’t sleep during the day, so I would end up with tired eyes and a drained body.
I'm not exaggerating how good the series is, but every part of it, right from the beginning, was too engaging to pull away from. The fact that I didn’t read any reviews or search for spoilers on social media meant I had no idea what would happen next, especially who would be the next to die. That uncertainty kept my heart and eyes glued to the screen, constantly hoping my favorite characters wouldn’t die – though most of them did.
However, the part that really made me lose all sense of responsibility was when Negan was introduced. Damn, that changed everything. The series took a whole new turn at that point, and I couldn’t tear myself away.
In a way, I’m thankful I didn’t follow the series as it was being released because I would’ve been furious with the long gaps. Imagine, the first season came out in 2010, and the final season wrapped up in 2022 – a whole 12 years! Also, binge-watching the series probably hit me harder than I expected because, on some days, I couldn’t even maintain my usual two-article writing streak on this platform. I would be drafting, and the next thing I knew, the urge to watch the next episode would creep in, and that would be the end of my productivity.
Well, I do love zombie movies, and that’s why I was so glued to The Walking Dead.
Thanks for reading.

No one could ever be useless if they watch the Walking dead haha. I watched the whole series 4 times now. Well, aside from the end, I've only seen that twice. I first started watching it in 2011, after my friend told me to do so. I had seen the odd (half) episode or so, late at night on a rerun, but never got into it. Probably because those episodes were somewhere halfway season 1 or 2.
Anyway, she told me to watch it and I listened, and I was hooked.
I faithfully waited for the next season, and the next, and the next. I was happy that they came with Fear the Walking dead, so I didn't have to wait another year, but it didn't live up to everything the Walking Dead had.
Then, I think I was just in Season 6, my eldest daughter became interested in it, and asked me to watch with her. So I started all over again. Didn't mind.
Just before we started on Season 9 (we were a little behind, she left our home and moved away, so there went my watch buddy.
So I had to sit through some very emotional episodes on my own, crying lonely tears for the losses. LOL.
Anyway, I watched the rest on my own, and then my son wanted to watch it last year, so I binge watched TWD, FTWD and most of the spin offs with him, in chronological order.
There has hardly ever been a series that had me so emotionally involved, especially not something with zombies! (although I never understood why they called them walkers, and not zombies. It's not like zombies hadn't been on TV before that haha.
Well, not true. I felt the same kinds of emotions when I watched Breaking Bad, but that's about it.
Anyway, loved your write up. Now I'm going to watch Daryl Dixon. :)
Feels so good seeing a TWD fan!🥰
You started 2011? I'm imagining the long endless waiting for next episodes. The period was so long and the same is happening for these spinoffs. Dead City season 2, the spin-off of Maggie and Negan is coming next year and season 3? Only God knows when.
For me, I watched alone on my phone...not living with family. I recommended to my siblings but when they heard it's up to season 11, they lost interest.
I'm yet to complete Fear The Walking Dead, possibly before the end of this year.
Daryl Dixon Season 2 was released last month and the second episode was released this yesterday.
Thank you for stopping by.
That's an insane level of dedication to the TV series. What firstly got you interested in the series? Anyway, thank you for sharing, and also remember to check other authors in the community.
Sorry for this late reply...
Now, I feel like answering in a way that would make you go into the movie, but if you love flesh tearing and survival movies, this is the best for you 🫣..
