Hi my dear friends... I have lots of updates but I will do on separate posts. It has been a complicated year for me and still navigating it.
I want to say thanks to the fellow hivers that have been in touch with me. No, I am not gone but this has been one of the most complicated years in my life and also one that has put me in motion. Grinding a lot in silence. I am very overwhelmed but inspired and in good spirits. Still it is sweet you notice. Anyway, this little post is to share some good news 🏆

Meliora comes from the latin word "to make things better" and that's the purpose of Meliora International Film Festival, to heal and make the world a better place through art. I'm really honoured to have won the award for best score for the short Prodigal's Road directed by Lisa Stock.

Here my nomination

I could not attend the ceremony as I am based in Spain but the director collected it on my behalf. It looks heavy!

Thank you Lisa for collecting this award for me :) at the ceremony that took place two days ago in NYC

I first met Lisa once in a Faeriecon :) a specialized convention about fairy art and music. I think it was in Philadelphia. I was a guest performer and illustrator. She was very enthusiastic and obviously with a vision and we connected. It is nice that through the years more common friends have joined in the cause as well :) My first collaboration with Lisa Stock dates back to 2009 Brother and Sister, a short film based on the poem by author Terri Windling inspired by the fairytale of the same name.

Ours has been a long ongoing collaboration since Lisa first ever envisioned her project Titania (named after the Queen of the Fairies) as a film and made some short themes as soundtrack for a short that would work as a prequel of the movie. Some of these musical snippets are not available for streaming and in my personal opinion some of the sound aged a little, so I hope I will improve the recording and release the tracks next year. One of the tracks that was already reworked is "The Golden Path" that you can listen to in this youtube video, and might be listed next year. The others will be likely re-recorded also with new sound as longer tracks before final release.

Here one of the featured tracks

Score also includes some from my first album Ancient Shadows like "Facing the dream" and an instrumental version of Facing the Dream that is not in the album. Now that I'll think of it, I'll try to locate it and list it for patrons)

Initially the additional tracks were part of Lisa's "Titania's Prequel" (2010) that already featured some of the cast you could find later on Prodigal's Road, a short that has gathered a great deal of recognition and accolades ever since its premier in 2018. Our commitment to the project has lasted through many years and as Lisa's work itself (and mine), it has gone through several shifts and changes. :)

Thus Prodigal's turn took a turn from "fantasy" into "fantasy realism" but still deeply rooted in mythology and folklore.

Watch trailer on Vimeo

Synopsis: Set on a farm in 1960, a widower is coerced into sheltering a mysterious, injured woman whose misfortune spreads to his land. When his crops begin to die, he comes to believe he's somehow being punished for helping her. As he gets set to evict her, one of the mythological Fates intervenes to show him the mystical connection between his land and the woman. From there he must decide whether to risk his farm and everything he has to save another. (Source: Lisa Stock)

Prodigal's Road received five nominations and won 3 awards

The nominations included best Cinematography, best director, best score (myself), best actor and actress, and secured 3 wins, including mine, best actor (George Macaluso) and best cinematography (Aidan Macaluso)

An ongoing collaboration and friendship for over a decade.

Lisa's work is often very symbolic and more than it meets the eye. She has many awards as a photographer as well and her work is deeply rooted in folklore and mythology but always with a thought provoking spin. She often relies on crafts and practical effects and delightful old school tricks to convey the idea that sometimes it's not utterly clear but to those who observe with its deserved attention.

And you may know more about this in the future, because just like "Yidneth" and "Fear no More" the are projects forever in the making, shifting, and shaping, and growing new tendrils and branches from a fellow dreamer and artist I know this all too well. They become part of what we do but also of who we are.

OTHER NEWS

On another note, I'm working on listing my music back on streaming, so it's rather busy here remastering and sending things up.
So if you use Spotify, tidal, Itunes or any streaming services I would be so grateful if you follow. I am not where I used to be but I hope you help me rekindle

It has been a complicated year for me, I cannot even start to explain
But music has been my therapy and medicine
Been grinding lots of things in silence
I just started releasing on Spotify again and updating there with everything

Bit i will be posting things orderly
And still navigating the health issue.
If only I value even more music for holding me up in difficult times
