A bad movie not to watch tonight
Blake, a husband and father from San Francisco, inherits his family’s remote home in rural Oregon. His marriage to Charlotte is falling apart, and he convinces her to take a break from city life and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger. As the family approaches the house, they are attacked by an unknown animal.
Another werewolf movie. Is it worth it? Not really.
🟢🟢🟢🟢
- The opening scene was quite engaging and got me interested in what was to come (though I had no idea what I was in for).
- The POV shots from the werewolf’s perspective were intriguing and something I don’t think we’ve seen before.
- In some scenes, it manages to build a basic sense of atmosphere.
- A plus: the gradual transformation from human to wolf—each step of the change was shown in detail (I’m really trying to find positives here, as you can tell 🙃).
- Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner’s performances are just okay.
- The greenhouse rooftop scene was visually well done.
🔴🔴🔴🔴
- The ending was completely uninspired for me.
- The script is full of clichés—expected, but still predictable.
- At times, it’s just plain boring.
- The werewolf design, while understandably difficult to pull off, didn’t work for me at all.
- The film takes a minimalistic approach to its concept, but instead of adding depth, it just makes everything feel emptier.
- Not scary in the slightest.
- While the lead actor is decent, he doesn’t have the screen presence to fully sell the role.
- The cinematography may have been a bit too dark.
Of I am to rate the movie the appropriate rating would be 3.5/10
