All about the big screen. 📽️ Cinema therapy. 🎞️

Those who were born in 80's or 90's always gets nostalgic on listening to some of the music of that era. I see many hiveans adding some of the fabulous songs of the 90's to the #musiconleo glossary on "Threads". Those who have witness that era never want to forget it as we have many wonderful memories associated with that period. I am no apart, I still find movies and music of that era more meaningful and melodious than today's Playlist.

VCR & VHS

There were many memories that alwsys fascinates me. Especially watching movies. I always fight with my elder brother for not taking me to theatres. Watching movies in India in the 80s and 90s had a unique experience. It was an era that saw transformstion in the film industry. Those were the times when VHS tapes , VCR, and later DVD were on high demand. The availability of movies on these devices allowed people to enjoy films at home. Ask anyone from today's generation and they are not aware of these items. Just rent them for a day and watch movies of your choice at home. We always used to watch movies in groups during any festival.

Revolutionary phase

Many people belive that the 1980-90 was the era for movies. It was the time when many technological advancements were introduced in film. The use of digital video, and digital cameras and other advanced equipments allowed filmmakers to tell stories through visuals and dialogue. This resulted in more realistic visual effects and popular computer animations. As far as Bollywood - The Indian film industry is concerned, the 80s and 90s saw the rise of iconic actors and actresses. It was also the time when many memorable films were produced that are still celebrated today. The impact of Indian cinema of that era has a significant role in, shaping the cultural landscape and influencing fashion, music, and societal trends in India. Going to the movies was a popular form of entertainment and people were ready to pay for the expenses.

A lesson learned

The scene at the theatre used to very chaotic and lively. There always used to be lot of rush. Audiences actively participating by cheering, clapping, and sometimes even dancing while watching the movies. As I am writing this piece, I reminded of an instance, when "me and my cousin forced my Dad for a weekend movie. My Dad always avoided going to theatres because of rush and active pickpocketeers. But when insisted he took us. We were too young to understand the issue and problems faced at the theatre. It was a chaotic atmosphere, and people were getting over one another to enter the theatre. The rush and crowd made my Dad anger. Both of us had a tight slap because the situation".

National channel

The incident happened to be a game changer in our life. Just to avoid repeat of the instance, My Dad brought Televeision at home. Those were not the time when private channels were active. We alwsys awaits for weekends to watch movies on national channel. While my Dad made us to listen to News every day. There were many family series which I still remember. Since then theatre never happened to be my cuppa of cake. Still in today time, I usually avoid going to theatre, unless and untill we have some good performing movies. So as the sun sets, we usually get out TV time which were enjoyed together at home. After the hard lesson learned at theatre, we now find more solace at home and at ocassion, watching movies on VCR.
