Synopsis

During the Russo-Japanese War, a man named Sugimoto survived the massacre at the Battle of Hill 203. Now, a war veteran, he survives by panning for gold in the Hokkaido region (Japan). A man tells him a legend about a map that leads to an enormous treasure of gold nuggets. The map was fragmented and tattooed on the bodies of several escaped inmates, now living as fugitives.

On his journey, Sugimoto meets an Ainu girl (indigenous to the region), skilled with arrows, who will help him in his search for the treasure.
