This Weekend the weather is awful it rains all day so the only thing one can do when the weather is like that is staying inside eating popcorns and watching movies.

The Sixth Sense

A child psychologist tries to connect with an 8-year-old boy who claims he is visited by ghosts, aiming to help him overcome his fears while also seeking redemption for a past professional failure.

Released in 1999, this is, in my opinion, one of the best thriller movies I've ever seen and definitely M. Night Shyamalan's best work.

It's one of the most chilling, clever, and unpredictable films of its kind, blending social drama with thriller elements to create a spine-tingling atmosphere. The phrase "I see dead people" has become iconic in cinema history. The shocking and twist-filled finale comes out of nowhere, showcasing the exceptional work done both in the direction and the screenplay. The performances are outstanding, with young Haley Joel Osment standing out. Special mention to the excellent soundtrack, which enhances the eerie atmosphere.

Honestly, I can’t find a single flaw in this movie. It has stood the test of time—I rewatched it today, and it’s still just as impactful.

Philadelphia

A gay lawyer is fired from his job because he is HIV-positive. He sues his former employers, but the only colleague willing to take on his case is a Black lawyer with prejudices against gay people.

This 1993 prestige film features an incredible cast and an even stronger story. It was one of the first movies to openly address issues of homosexuality and AIDS, deconstructing the stereotypes of its time. It earned Tom Hanks the Oscar for Best Actor, and rightfully so—he carries the entire film on his shoulders and delivers the performance of a lifetime.

The film addresses a critical issue of its era with the seriousness it deserves while delivering an outstanding courtroom drama (at least in my eyes). The supporting cast also shines, with a young Denzel Washington standing out.

From a directorial perspective, it focuses on the emotional struggles of its characters and does so brilliantly. It leans into raw realism and, despite its relatively slow pace (which some viewers might not like), you won’t lose interest for a second.

It definitely deserves your attention if you haven’t seen it yet.
