"Everybody Hates Chris" - Not a Review but some personal Thoughts.

If you ask me what sitcom I have watched repeatedly, I would probably name this one the first on the list. You guessed it right, I can relate to it so much.

Being an elder sibling, I had to go through a lot although my life was not like Chris. Now, as I'm a grown person and in my middle age, I monologue my life in my head just like Chris does in the TV series.

I bet you also got random clips popped into your social media and you get sticks to it. I'm not sure after how many years ago I came across this sitcom through such a clip. And not to mention, I continued watching this and my feed was flooded one clip after another.

Why do I love this series so much?

It's not entirely because I can relate. But I love the humor, the tone of telling the story, and obviously the casting. They feel real.

On top of everything, the monolog tone, how Chris describes every event, and how it portrays what going on in his mind is what I can relate to much.

When I talk about my life or any childhood, or teenhood memory; I feel the same. And I used to feel the same back then, there's a monolog that always goes in my mind and I can describe the events just like it.

If you have not watched it yet.

If you are fond of the 80's lifestyle and culture then I would suggest, you go for this series.

You will get to see so many gadgets, listen to different slang that we almost forgot, the clothes, the lifestyles, and most of all the mindset of the people back then. This series portrays everything of 80's culture perfectly.

And if you are like me, in the middle age, and like to look bad then this sitcom should be a must-watch for you. I bet you can relate, you will be nostalgic, and you will love the humor.

Now, coming to the main point - as this series is based on real the teen life of Chirs Rock so this will give you a whole new perspective. We have seen him building a place in the industry. And the slap from Will Smith, I guess no one forgot that.

So when I watch back this series, I can see Chris's life.

I can see his struggle, I can understand his emotions, I can feel what made him so strong, what helped him to build a position in the industry.

It's not just to understand his life but it helps me to understand my life better. Because going through almost similar things, no matter what the culture and region we have, we had a similar middle-class life in the 80's.

The resilience, the trust issues, the pressure to prove ourselves we feel comes from our past. So much so, finding humor in our struggle (just like when we got slapped by Will Smith), our confidence, the family bond/sibling bond, our willpower, and our awareness; everything we have now comes from the past we lived.

Although it's not my life but it's a reflection of our life. This is where this series came to a success. This is what makes me rewatch it again and again.
