Blade Runner is a Very Unusual Movie
If you love science fiction movies that make you think and delve into complex details then you must have heard of Blade Runner This movie was first shown in 1982 and was directed by the great director Ridley Scott It is not just an action and science fiction movie it also raises philosophical questions about life identity and humanity.
The story is simple
The movie takes place in a bleak future in the year 2019, oh imagine if they saw the future like that in the city of Los Angeles Technology has advanced to the point that they have created humanoid robots that look exactly like humans called Replicants These robots are strong and intelligent but they have a limited shelf life Their main job was in space colonies but when a group of them decided to rebel and return to Earth someone had to hunt them down and stop them Here comes the role of our hero Rick Deckard who works as a Blade Runner meaning a hunter of rebellious robots.
Not only for the action and visual effects that were ahead of their time but also for the questions he asks What does it mean to be human Do memories define your identity And is a robot that feels and thinks considered just a machine and does not have the right to live like humans.
Also the general atmosphere of the film with its dark colors and rainy atmosphere filled with neon advertisements created a very distinctive visual character In addition to the charming soundtrack by Vangelis which gave the film a special spirit.
After about 35 years a second part was released called Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling and a special appearance by Harrison Ford the hero of the first part The film maintained the same spirit but added new depth to the stories and characters.
Blade Runner is not a film that you watch once and thats it Its a movie that makes you think about the meaning of life and humanity Even if you are not a fan of science fiction youll find yourself fascinated by the story and the general atmosphere A movie worth watching more than once.
Indeed it was quite an unusual sci-fi movie. I did watch the movie but got uninterested halfway and abandoned it. Guess there was more that the movie had to offer
