Plot

The film begins by telling us the origin of the "Black Panther", a human being who ingested a "heart-shaped herb" that came in contact with a meteorite formed by vibranium (a very powerful metal that has been used many times in the Marvel Studios Universe) and obtained an incomparable power. He became the leader of Wakanda, a nation formed by uniting several African tribes. Undoubtedly, the superhero franchise was at its peak at this time, after the incredible success that was "Civil War" with cameos like Spider-Man and Black Panther. While I'm not a big fan of this movie, apart from remembering only having seen it a couple of times, it is true to admit that in terms of script, production and acting, this film has something that stands out from the other major productions that Marvel Studios has achieved in recent years. And we are not only talking about its cast, which does very well, starting with Chadwick Boseman, playing the protagonist, T'Challa, a son who shortly after suffering the loss of his beloved father has to assume a great responsibility which is to become the new king of Wakanda and be the new Black Panther. The combination of leadership with power that he acquires makes him reflect a lot on what he has to be for his nation, for his family and for the people he has to protect and guide from now on, trying to develop a vision of a future that would completely change the interests and principles that everyone has, giving way to a new era.

The great impact this character has on the audience is tremendous, since apart from teaching us to forgive and overcome the pains of the past, he also shows us how to face problems and take on new responsibilities with a different vision and ideal, always thinking of those around us. The other actors also do a very good job of acting, one as the wife who is always there to advise the hero and king, both in good times and bad; the younger sister supporting him and helping him with her skill and intelligence; and his mother who guides her son to walk on the best path. On the other hand, the villain of this film, played by Michael B. Jordan, is one of those who, although he shows a very excellent development, with a solid purpose of revenge that was engendered from a very young age when his father was betrayed and executed, the end that he has I don't think I like so much (maybe because I think that in the end they "nerfed him for the sake of the plot"). Si bien no soy un gran fan de esta película, aparte de recordar apenas haberla visto un par de veces, es cierto admitir que en cuanto a nivel de guión, producción y actuación, esta cinta tiene algo que se diferencia y se destaca de las demás grandes producciones que ha logrado Marvel Studios en estos años. Y no solo estamos hablando de su elenco, el cual lo hace muy bien, empezando por Chadwick Boseman, al interpretar al protagonista, T’Challa, un hijo que poco después de sufrir la pérdida de su querido padre tiene que asumir una gran responsabilidad que es de convertirse en el nuevo rey de Wakanda y ser el nuevo Black Panther. La combinación de liderazgo con poder que este adquiere lo hace reflexionar bastante en lo que tiene que ser para su nación, para su familia y para la gente que tiene que proteger y guiar de ahora en adelante, intentando desarrollar una visión de un futuro que cambiaría por completo los intereses y los principios que todos tienen, dando paso a una nueva era.

El tremendo impacto que tiene este personaje en la audiencia es tremenda, ya que aparte de enseñarnos a perdonar y superar los dolores del pasado, nos demuestra también cómo afrontar los problemas y asumir nuevas responsabilidades con una visión y un ideal distinto, pensando siempre en los que nos rodean. Los demás actores realizan también un muy buen trabajo de interpretación, una como la esposa que siempre está ahí para aconsejar al héroe y rey, tanto en las buenas como en las malas; la hermana menor apoyándolo y ayudándolo con su destreza e inteligencia; y su madre quien guía a su hijo a andar en el mejor camino. Por otro lado, el villano de esta película, interpretado por Michael B. Jordan, es de esos que, si bien demuestran un muy excelente desarrollo, con un propósito bien sólido de venganza que fue engendrado desde muy pequeño al ser su padre traicionado y ejecutado, el final que este tiene no creo que me agrade tanto (tal vez porque pienso que al final lo “nerfearon por el bien de la trama”). Eso sí, nos dejó un gran “Meme” que aún a la fecha se sigue utilizando.

Apart from the characters and the script of this movie, another thing that I like a lot is the excellent work in visual effects and CGI that this film has. In some moments you can notice that some scenes were made 100% CGI, but they are so well done that you can hardly notice it (a brutal difference compared to works that Marvel Studios itself has done with a terrible CGI in the last 3 years). There is also the design of Black Panther's costumes, which I like quite a lot, especially the last one that has a detail that fascinates me by being able to accumulate energy or strong impacts and then release them as a defense/attack system. The sound effects are very well done and it is fascinating to listen to them combined with each scenario. The soundtrack of this movie, which won one or another award, is a marvel, which goes with the beat of the above mentioned elements to make this film a wonderful audiovisual masterpiece worth enjoying. In short, this movie is one of those distinct and interesting superhero stories worth watching.

Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating as far as the action/sci-fi genre is concerned.

Fuera de los personajes y el guión que tiene esta película, otra cosa que me gusta bastante es el excelente trabajo en efectos visuales y CGI que tiene esta cinta. En ciertos momentos se puede notar que algunas escenas fueron hechas 100% a computadora, pero están tan bien hechas que casi ni se nota (una diferencia brutal en comparación con trabajos que la misma Marvel Studios ha realizado con un CGI terrible en estos últimos 3 años). También está el diseño de los trajes de Black Panther, los cuales me agradan bastante, sobre todo el último que tiene un detalle que me fascina al poder acumular energía o impactos fuertes para luego soltarlos como un sistema de defensa/ataque. Los efectos de sonido están muy bien hechos y es fascinante escucharlos combinados con cada escenario. La banda sonora de esta película, la cual se ganó uno que otro premio, es una maravilla, la cual va con el compás de los anteriores elementos mencionados para hacer de esta cinta una maravillosa obra maestra audiovisual que vale la pena disfrutar. En resumen, esta película es una de esas historias de superhéroes distintas e interesantes que valen la pena ver.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción y ciencia ficción.
