I think the most successful Turkish TV series are comedies. Although there are no successful television series in this field in recent years, there are successful Turkish series such as Gibi, Doğu, Erşan Kuneri, Prince, Var Bunlar. The reason for this is that all the series I mentioned above are trying different things and succeeding. One is about the adventures of a lazy prince in a fantasy world, while the other is about events that can happen to anyone in everyday life. So why don't we try new things in other fields?

Romance and Drama are the main themes of Turkish TV series at the moment and as if our lives are not boring and dramatic enough already, we are also exposed to the drama of these series. Moreover, they are very stale and repetitive. There's a rich guy and a poor girl, they bump into each other, they fall in love and at first they hate each other but gradually they fall in love and they do it like they're explaining it to an idiot. There are no surprises in the show, you can guess everything from the beginning to the end. Or there is a tribe and the son of this tribe falls in love with a woman he cannot marry for various reasons. Sometimes it's a woman who belongs to a feuding tribe, sometimes it's a woman who is a maid, but even the characters are similar. For example, there's always a woman in the show who is the clan leader in evil. She's always tormenting and mistreating the girl that the lead boy loves. She is always advising her son not to marry her. And the characters in the dramas are also so distinct that even an idiot can understand them. If a character is bad, he is bad and never does anything good. He treats everyone and everything badly, he never smiles throughout the series. If a character is good, on the contrary, that character is good to everyone and everything, even the evil that is done to him, he responds with goodness, just like an angel. And then there are the silly and cunning characters, right? Our naive and stupid character is vulnerable to be fooled by everyone at every moment of the show and he will lose everything he has. You can see this until the end of the series, you can see it in the way he speaks and the way he looks. The cunning character is also very obviously going to fool people, the way he looks at other people and even his smile changes, especially when he sees the stupid characters. It's a long paragraph but I'm really tired of these clichés and I want to watch something different.

I want to watch something different but the general audience? I think they are happy with it because these shows continue to be watched by millions and new shows are not supported. Most of them watch shows with good casts and identify with the handsome or beautiful actors and don't even care about the script. Of course no one puts themselves in the shoes of a stupid character! Is Tyrion Lannister in Game Of Thrones a very handsome character? No, he's not, but a lot of people love him, don't they? Why is that? Because he's cunning and well-meaning, but he can also be a servant to his brother or convince soldiers to fight. He does it like a natural human being, not like a good angel or an evil villain.

The length of the episodes is also ridiculous. At the moment most of the dramas are about 2.30 hours long and believe me, this episode can be condensed into 1 hour. And if dramas were made, more people would watch them and people wouldn't get bored. Maybe even I can appreciate them and watch them. Of course this is not wanted by producers and channel owners because longer episodes mean more money for producers and longer commercials for channel owners. After all, you can't put 30 minutes of commercials in a 1-hour show, can you? The reality is that for things to change, people have to demand it. Otherwise, we will continue to watch scripts that are all the same and scenes where handsome and beautiful actors stare at each other for hours. I hope the Turkish people realize that this is nonsense and value different scripts and watch those series more. In this way, the producers will change as well.

Bence Türklerin en başarılı olduğu dizi sektörü komedi. Son yıllarda bu alanda da başarılı televizyon dizileri olmasa da internet dizileri alanında Gibi, Doğu, Erşan Kuneri, Prens, Var Bunlar gibi başarılı Türk dizileri var. Bunun sebebi yukarıda saydığım bütün dizilerin farklı şeyler deniyor ve bunu başarıyor olmaları. Biri fantastik bir dünyada geçen tembel bir prensin maceralarını konu alırken bir diğeri günlük hayatta her insanın başına gelebilecek olayları konu alıyor. O halde neden diğer dallarda da yeni şeyler denemiyoruz?

Romantizm ve Drama şu anda Türk televizyon dizilerinin ana konusu ve zaten hayatımız yeterince sıkıcı ve dramatik değilmiş gibi bir de bu dizilerin dramasına maruz kalıyoruz. Üstelik bunlar çok bayat ve sürekli kendini tekrar eden diziler. Zengin bir adam ve fakir bir kız var, çarpışıyorlar aşık oluyorlar ve başta ikisi birbirinden nefret ederken yavaş yavaş birbirlerine aşık oluyorlar ve bunu bir aptala anlatır gibi yapıyorlar. Dizinin hiçbir sürprizi yok başından sonuna her şeyi tahmin edebiliyorsunuz. Ya da bir aşiret var ve bu aşiretin oğlu türlü sebeplerden dolayı evlenemeyeceği bir kadına aşık oluyor. Bu sebep bazen kan davası güdülen bir aşirete mensup bir kadın, bazen o kadının bir hizmetçi olması gibi şeyler oluyor ama karakterler bile birbirine benziyor. Örneğin her zaman dizide şeytani kötülükte aşiret lideri olan bir kadın var. Sürekli olarak başrol çocuğun sevdiği kıza eziyet ediyor ve ona kötü davranıyor. Sürekli olarak oğluna o kızla evlenmemesi gerektiğini telkin ediyor. Ayrıca dizilerdeki karakterler de yine aptalların bile anlayabileceği kadar belirgin. Bir karakter kötüyse o kötü ve asla iyi bir şey yapmıyor. Herkese ve her şeye kötü davranıyor, dizi boyunca asla gülümsemiyor. İyiyse ise tam tersi, o karakter herkese ve her şeye iyi davranıyor, kendisine yapılan kötülüklere bile iyilikle karşılık veriyor, tıpkı bir melek gibi. Bir de şaşkın ve kurnaz karakterler var değil mi? Saf ve aptal karakterimiz dizinin her anında herkes tarafından kandırılmaya açık ve elindeki her şeyi kaybedecek. Bunu dizinin sonuna kadar görebiliyorsunuz, konuşmasından bakışlarından anlayabiliyorsunuz. Kurnaz karakterin de insanları kandıracağı çok belli, diğer insanlara bakışı ve özellikle aptal karakterleri gördüğünde gülümsemesi bile değişiyor. Uzun bir paragraf oldu ama gerçekten bu klişelerden sıkıldım ve farklı şeyler izlemek istiyorum.

Ben farklı şeyler izlemek istiyorum ama genel izleyici kitlesi? Sanırım onlar bundan memnun çünkü bu diziler milyonlar tarafından izlenmeye devam ediyor ve yeni diziler desteklenmiyor. Pek çoğu oyuncu kadrosu iyi olan dizileri izliyor ve yakışıklı ya da güzel oyuncularla kendilerini özdeşleştirip dizinin senaryosunu bile önemsemiyorlar. Tabi ki kimse kendini aptal bir karakterin yerine koymuyor! Game Of Thrones'taki Tyrion Lannister çok yakışıklı bir karakter mi? Hayır değil ama pek çok insan onu seviyor değil mi? Neden? Çünkü o hem kurnaz hem iyi niyetli ama yeri geldiğinde kardeşine hizmetçilik yapıyor ya da askerleri savaşması için ikna edebiliyor. Bunu doğal bir insan gibi yapıyor, bir iyilik meleği ya da şeytani bir kötü gibi değil.

Bölümlerin uzunluğu da ayrı bir saçmalık. Şu anda dizilerin çoğunluğu yaklaşık 2.30 saat sürüyor ve inanın bana bu bölüm 1 saate sığdırılabilir. Üstelik diziler çekilse çok daha fazla kişi izler ve insanlar sıkılmazlar. Belki ben bile onlara değer verip izleyebilirim. Tabi ki bu yapımcılar ve kanal sahipleri tarafından istenmiyor çünkü daha uzun bölümler yapımcılar için daha fazla para demek ve kanal sahipleri için de daha uzun reklamlar demek. Sonuçta 1 saatlik bir diziye 30 dakika reklam koyamazsınız değil mi? Gerçek şu ki bir şeylerin değişmesi için insanların bunu talep etmesi gerekiyor. Yoksa hepsi birbirinin aynı olan senaryolar ve yakışıklı-güzel aktörlerin saatlerce birbirine bakıştığı sahneler izlemeye devam edeceğiz. Umarım Türk halkı bunun saçmalık olduğunu anlar ve farklı senaryolara değer verip o dizileri daha çok izler. Bu sayede yapımcılar da aynı şekilde değişecektir.
