The Inmate 2018

Hello all, i hope you are well! This weekend i had some free time and ofc i had to watch a series or something. In general i have seen quite a lot series/anime/movies these 2-3 months but i rarely have the time nowadays to make some decent posts. So decided today just as i finished watching The Inmate and everything is fresh in my mind to not be lazy and write something about it.

Plot and Info

So the series has one season, 13 episodes, aired in 2018 and you can watch it through Netflix. I think it's Mexican or something but the true origin is actually an Argentinian series. Apparently, there will be no season 2, so i am just saying this beforehand, i believe it's better to know it before watching it or even reading the review.

So the plot starts like this, we have an American soldier who basically infiltrates a prison, one of the most well-known and toughest prisons in Mexico. The reason is that there a crime boss being held who somehow has abducted the daughter of a politician. The name of the American is Dante and in fact, he was let's say something like her bodyguard.

So as he gets in jail, he has to learn the rules, find out what the hell is going on, which functions rules, and how he will get closer to Tavares, the crime boss and in general survive this chaos.

What i Liked and What I Didn't

So in general, the plot was really nice with some plot twists but most of these plot twists fell off. The show felt a bit rushed, i don't know why this happened but in my opinion most of the things we get to see in a season, it could easily be in 2. Note that i am referring to the main "plot" not the in-between.

Now let's say prison aesthetics are pretty awesome, you honestly get the feeling that everything is happening in an actual prison. A lot of the fight scenes are quite mediocre though, they needed to work more on that. The best thing in my opinion about the series is the acting. The actors are pretty awesome, they take their job as something quite serious and you can easily tell. "Santino" a prison that kills, does drugs and is the right hand let's say of Tavares even though he is pretty much a scum, the actor behind him not only did awesome work with his acting, he made the audience even feel for him at certain times.

Overall, i wouldn't say that this series is a must-watch, especially not without a second season, but if you like prison shows, and want to kill some time i would say go for it. It's like a 6.5/10 if you ask me.

Oh I do hope you have more time to talk about the stuff you've watched in the last couple months. I'd love to add more shows to my watchlist. Lovely review, though I'm not quite sure I'd be checking it out. Haha.

It has that intrigue and vibe to it to keep a movie going. Nicely written. Thank you for sharing!
