Limitless (2011) is pure adrenaline!
Spoilers!
Wow!! What an awesome treat this movie was. I have been slacking but, I still have been reading older books I haven't read in years and the experience has been outstanding. Slowly here and there I've been doing the same with movies. With movies in particular though, I do have this problem where I feel like if I have watched a movie already, especially if it's just a single stand alone movie without a sequel, then rewatching is not a particularly exciting idea. But also, I tell myself I'll watch it again someday. Well then 14 years pass and I have not seen a favorite!
'Limitless' starring Bradley Cooper is a prime example of this. In my head 'Limitless' is one of my favorite movies, but I simply have not watched it in forever! It's like a lifetime has passed since I last seen this. Life was incredibly different back then.
One thing is for certain, time may have passed, but 'Limitless' is still one of my favorite movies ever! I really forgot how good it was and my expectations were absolutely met if not surpassed! I also forgot just how solid of an actor Bradley Cooper is.
All in all this was a fast paced fantastic film in every way. I also find it so unique and kind of abstract. The plot is so powerfully simple. Watching this feels like I drank 18 cups of coffee or something. Its like pure charisma in movie form.
I call it abstract because, I can't even really pull a truly realistic lesson out of this film necessarily since this whole scenario is a fantasy. So it oddly taps into like, delusion in a way? I can't really explain it. It's interesting that his ex brother in law states 'it works better if you're already smart' that detail intrigues me.
I'm probably just a bit slow and am not seeing the main message. But nevertheless 'Limitless' is oddly inspiring and FUN.
It sort of makes me want to tackle the world and just like, be on point in life.
The ending scene is just pure motivation, pure drive, pure freight train energy. Eddie (Cooper) looked and felt SO locked in! So creatively inspiring. Just an outstanding ending. I love that the ending shows Eddie being victorious. Just amazing. Many of these intense movies show the main character to lose or fail somehow at the end. But OF COURSE Eddie wins! This guy cannot be stopped and ugh just pure adrenaline and inspiration to me.
When Eddie says at the end that he worked out the kinks and whatnot, and even suggests that he's off of it completely, I find this highly intriguing. Perhaps he was bluffing? Not sure. But this intrigues me very much.
Maybe this is a lesson in staying motivated or something? A lesson in expressing that if you put your mind to it, you can stay focused and accomplish good things in life and not be up or down and inconsistent. I dunno.
I've also always been fascinated by the placebo effect, and I wonder if this film plays with that idea. I feel like it does.
'Limitless' was just as good as I remember and man what a treat. I'm currently struggling a bit in life, what else is new, and for whatever it's worth, this film made me feel good.
On a side note, I do just want to mention this because why not. I grew up watching movies heavily. I was either doing a sport, or watching a movie or reading. I didn't (still don't really) have many friends. I also didn't have like an excellent or peaceful home life. I appreciate my upbringing the best I can and try not to be ungrateful but at times it was hard.
I've noticed with certain films, especially certain Adam Sandler films for some reason, that like I really attached myself to some of these stories and characters in a big way. Like in an eerie way even. Rewatching these films is quite intense. I'll just leave it at that. I don't dislike the feelings or things I'm noticing but, it's quite odd.
Yeah. Stories are so powerful man. They say stories used to be memorized and then passed down verbally. Now that these stories can be saved in film or books is so unique. Of all the adaptations humans have developed, I'd argue story telling is perhaps the most powerful piece of evolution.
This film taps into fantasy and inspiration and motivation in such a one of a kind manner. Full of action and relatability. Bravo!
Your title for the post did justice to the film. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will watch again if got time.
Thanks for your kind words! Yes I am soooo happy I re-watched this one. Definitely worth another watch! Unforgettable and just awesome.
