Hijack 1971~the review

I've always been attracted to movies that tell the stories of a true life event, you might say "That's what attracted me to this one" but nope, I didn't know this movie was a true life event till the ending part of it when they showed the real event. This particular event happened in the 90s in South Korea.

The plot:

The movie tells the story of a pilot whose plane got hijacked by a twenty-two-year-old boy who took control of the plane and ordered the pilots to fly the plane to North Korea instead of South Korea.

The hijacking resulted in the passengers fighting for their lives when the hijacker dropped a hand-made grenade inside the plane causing it to explode and injuring the passengers. Now the reason for the hijacking of the plane was so the hijacker could become a national hero in North Korea.

During that period of the event, planes from South Korea couldn't land in North Korea (I don't know if they had an issue) but that's what the movie portrayed. The moment the plane crossed the border and was heading toward "North Korea" the air force authorities from South Korea asked their agencies to shoot down the plane, in their words "to avoid being attacked by North Korea".

The air force authority from South Korea was ordering the pilot to head back to South Korea to avoid being shot down while the hijacker was telling the pilot to land the plane in North Korea, the pilot was faced with different options and the lives of the fifty-eight passengers are in his hands.

My thoughts:

I'm not gonna say the movie was perfect but then it was worth the time I spent seeing it, I liked the fact that it was very suspenseful and was always leaving me on the edge, waiting for what would happen next. But then at some point, it was becoming boring cause I felt like, there were enough men on the plane that would have done something about the hijacker "like grab the weapon from him" but "nope" everyone was being careful and looking out for themselves.

Now, it's the pilot who left his position and had to fight with the hijacker which resulted in the hijacker losing his weapon, it was at that moment someone else grabbed the weapon and shot at the hijacker. I feel when we find ourselves in certain situations, the responsibilities shouldn't be shifted to just one person, everyone must learn to work together.

I will recommend you watch this movie if you haven't and if you have "what do you think about the movie?

Thanks for reading 🌹

That was a really eventful situation, it is very wild that it happened in real life.

I get that part where you said it almost became boring at a point. Movies can be very weird and unrealistic ehn. One person will be again 50 men and will fight then all too be victorious. When he was busy with one or two, were the others just breathing in oxygen??😂

Things like this happen from time to time... I understand you said he could have been easily overpowered but the thing is he was armed. He also had a grenade... I think you mentioned that.

It is natural to feel fear and hopelessness in that situation. Even in bank robberies, you'd see two or three robbers or even one, and the robbery will be successful. The whole overpowering thing is easier than said.

But then in this situation, they were gonna die anyways so I get your point😭😭😂😂😂

Added to my watch list. You shouldn't have spoilt it the end tho 😮‍💨
