CineTV Contest #96- Asalto a Wall Street [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, my movie-loving friends! Definitely, when things get bad, that is to say, black, everyone looks for their accommodation and if it is about financial problems many more, as seen in the movie Assault on Wall Street (2013) in which from the first scene, the two parties are shown damaged in a serious financial crisis in the housing sector in 2008 in the U.S.

On the one hand, it shows the businessman Jeremy Srancroft (John Heard) thinking about how to get out of his problem, avoiding prison without considering the damage he may cause to his clients, and on the other hand, the situation of the general population, represented in the character of Jin Baxford (Dominic Purcell), who lives a chain of unpleasant events such as losing his savings and his wife lead him to take drastic decisions to quench his thirst for revenge, taking justice into his own hands and ending the lives of bankers, lawyers and businessmen.

Hero to some, murderer to others. This can be seen in a sequence in which an announcer receives calls in which the interlocutors express their opinions about the actions of the protagonist. This action film directed by Uwel Boll, starring Dominic Purcell, makes it clear that in times of financial crisis those in power almost always come out on top, while the others bear the brunt: loss of jobs, homes, retirement funds, credibility, family and, although this is not the case, loss of friends. At the same time, it shows how in desperate situations like these, people can take drastic measures such as taking their own lives or shooting themselves in all directions.

Feeling devastated to see how life changes from one day to the next, without finding a way out of the situation, must be a bitter pill to swallow for anyone. Of course, neither suicide nor lashing out at others is not the way out, but it requires a lot of fortitude to face this situation. In this film, there are loan shark lawyers, ruthless businessmen, miserable financial advisors, corrupt politicians and others, but there are also friends who unconditionally support, accompany the protagonist during the bad moments of his life and, somehow, cover up for him after committing the ASSAULT.

Regarding the movie, the staging and stuff, I must say that it is a bit slow at the beginning, because the director takes his time to show the protagonist's situation, the dialogue, except for a few times, is not very good. Purcell's performance could have been better, but that's the way it is. I confess that when I read the title I imagined one of those well thought out heists in the style of The Great Swindle, but it showed me something else.

Would I see it again? Well, no. However, if you're really bored on a Sunday with nothing to watch, you might think about giving it a chance to pass the time. You know that when it comes to movie tastes, it's very varied and anything can happen.

¡Saludos, mis amigos amantes del cine! Definitivamente, cuando las cosas se ponen color de hormiga, es decir, negras, cada quien busca su acomodo y si se trata de problemas financieros muchos más, tal como se deja ver en la película Asalto a Wall Street (2013) en el que desde la primera escena, se muestran las dos partes perjudicadas en una grave crisis financiera en el sector de vivienda del 2008 en los EE. UU.

Por un lado, se muestra al empresario Jeremy Srancroft (John Heard) pensando en cómo salir de su problema, evitando caer en la cárcel sin reparar en el daño que puede causarle a sus clientes y, por otro lado, la situación que atraviesa la población en general, representada en el personaje de Jin Baxford (Dominic Purcell), quien vive una cadena de eventos bastante desagradables como perder sus ahorros y a su esposa lo llevan a tomar decisiones drásticas para calmar su sed de venganza, tomando la justicia en sus manos acabando con la vida de banqueros, abogados y empresarios.

Héroe para algunos, asesinos para otros. Eso se deja ver en una secuencia en la que un locutor recibe llamadas en la que los interlocutores manifestaban sus opiniones sobre las acciones del protagonista. Esta película de acción dirigida por Uwel Boll, protagonizada por Dominic Purcell, nos deja claro que en tiempos de crisis financieras los que tienen poder casi siempre salen ganando, mientras que los demás corren con toda la carga: pérdida de empleos, de casas, fondo de jubilaciones, credibilidad, familia y, aunque este no es el caso, pérdida de amigos. Al mismo tiempo, permite ver cómo ante situaciones como esas en medio del desespero, las personas pueden tomar medidas drásticas como quitarse la vida o salir disparando por todos lados.

Sentirse devastado al ver cómo la vida cambia de un día para otro, sin encontrar salida a esa situación, debe ser un trago amargo para cualquiera. Obvio, ni el suicidio ni arremeter en contra de otros no es la salida, pero requiere de bastante entereza para enfrentar esta situación. En esta película, hay abogados usureros, empresarios despiadados, asesores financieros miserables, políticos corruptos y demás, pero también hay amigos que apoyan incondicionalmente, acompañan al protagonista durante los malos momentos de su vida y, de alguna manera, lo encubren después cometer el ASALTO.

Con respecto a la película, la puesta en escena y esas cosas, debo decir que es un poco lenta al principio, porque el director se toma el tiempo para mostrar la situación del protagonista, el diálogo, salvo contadas veces, no es muy bueno. La actuación de Purcell pudo ser mejor, pero así son las cosas. Confieso que cuando leí el título me imaginé un robo de esos bien pensados al estilo de la Gran Estafa, pero me mostró otra cosa.

¿La volvería a ver? Pues, no. Sin embargo, si estás muy aburrido un domingo sin nada que ver, podrías pensar en darle una oportunidad para pasar el rato. Ustedes saben que en temas de gustos en películas es muy variado y cualquier cosa puede pasar.
