Greetings @movies&tvshows community, a few days ago I was watching the Disney +Plus catalog and I found Fantasia 2000, I remembered my childhood and how much I liked that movie, I even still have the VHS, so I wanted to talk a little about it.
Fantasia 2000…
It is an animated film of Walt Disney Pictures produced by Roy E. Disney and Donald W. Ernst is the thirty-eighth film in the Walt Disney Animation canon, where not only animation is the main genre, but also fantasy, musical and children's films.
Curious facts…
Film that was made to commemorate the 59th and 60th Anniversary of the film Fantasia, released in 1940, both consist of joining image and music, where in most productions the music is made or created based on the image, in this case it is the opposite, the cartoons were made to fit with different and majestic musical pieces. Fantasia 2000 was not initially intended to be a film that would be released all at once, but annually, that is to say that in each year we would see not only the shorts that have already passed, but a new one, but unfortunately the project did not happen due to lack of budget.
What does Fantasia 2000 bring us?…
Just like its predecessor, it brings with it the same production scheme: several short films that are accompanied by a musical piece and in each one, there is a break to the next one, where an actor or actress, such as Steve Martin, Itzhak Perlman, Bette Midler, among others, introduce us to the next short film to be presented, as if the spectator were taking a break from what he or she has just witnessed.
In fantasy there were 7 short films and in Fantasia 2000 there were also 7, but one of the shorts from the previous film "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" was included..
Some of the short films that may be mentioned (spoiler alert)....
They are "Gerswin's Rhapsody in Blue" where he narrates the life of different characters in New York City, ranging from an unemployed man to a man who does not like his job and wants to fulfill his dream of playing in a band and so on. In this short film, I find the drawing exquisite, the cartoonish tone that plays with the gestures and the movement of the lines in an impeccable way that goes so well with the musical piece that it seems as if it was created for the drawing.
Another of the short films, and the one I like the most, is "Firebird Suite by Strawinski", here we highlight the Spirit of Spring and her faithful companion the deer. This spirit accidentally awakens the Firebird that was sleeping in a volcano and destroys everything that Spring had made bloom after the harsh winter, including herself. Thanks to her friend the deer, she comes back to life with no desire for anything, but little by little she recovers hope and makes the destroyed forest grow again.
The truth seems to me a clear example of what visual storytelling is, without the need for words, you can understand all the background and the proposed scenario, especially what the piece wants us to get to.
Personal opinion...
It can be located comments that, although Fantasia 2000 contains animated pieces of great praise, the short duration of the same and that some of the stories are repeated from the previous one, adding the little coherence and continuity between each short, in the sense that, in an orchestra can be located different pieces, but one has as sequence of the other, I do not know if I explain and here that was not achieved, made the film did not become a success at the box office.
However, for someone who had not seen the first one, it seems to me a good combination between visual and sound art, a game with colors, shapes and musical notes to perfection, implying that animation explores or still has to explore, different ways to express and be much more than simple cartoons. Both films have their good and bad points and each one brings its own way of interpreting it.

Saludos comunidad de @movies&tvshows, hace unos días estaba viendo el catálogo de Disney +Plus y, me encontré con Fantasía 2000, de una me acordé a mi infancia y lo mucho que me gustaba dicha película, incluso conservo aun el VHS, por lo que quería hablar un poco de ella.

Es una película animada de Walt Disney Pictures producida por Roy E. Disney y Donald W. Ernst es la trigésimo octava película en el canon de Walt Disney Animation, donde no solo la animación es el género protagonista, también la fantasía, el musical e infantil.
Datos curiosos…
Film que se hizo para conmemorar el 59° y 60° Aniversario de la película Fantasía, estrenada para el año 1940, ambas consisten en unir la imagen y la música, donde en la mayoría de las producciones se hace o se crea la música en base a la imagen, en este caso es lo contrario, los dibujos animados fueron hechos para encajar con diferentes y majestuosas piezas musicales. Fantasía 2000 no pretendía en un inicio ser una película que se estrenara de una vez, sino anual, es decir que en cada año veríamos no solo los cortos que ya pasaron, sino uno nuevo, pero, el proyecto lamentablemente no se dio por falta de presupuesto.
¿Qué nos trae Fantasía 2000?…
Así como su antecesora, trae consigo el mismo esquema de producción: varios cortos que acompañada una pieza musical y en cada uno, hay un respiro a la siguiente, donde un actor o actriz, como Steve Martin, Itzhak Perlman, Bette Midler, entre otros, nos van introduciendo al siguiente corto a presentar, es como si dejase descansar al espectador de lo que acaba de presenciar.
En fantasía fueron 7 cortometrajes y en Fantasía 2000 fueron igualmente 7 pero se anexo uno de los cortos del anterior film: “El aprendiz del Brujo”.
Algunos de los cortometrajes que se puede mencionar (alerta de spoiler)…
Son “Rhapsody in Blue de Gerswin” donde nos narra la vida de distintos personajes en la ciudad de Nueva York, que van desde un desempleado hasta un hombre que no está a gustó con su trabajo y quiere cumplir su sueño de tocar en una banda y así sucesivamente. En este corto, el dibujo me parece exquisito, el tono caricaturesco que juega con la gestualidad y el movimiento de las líneas de manera impecable que, va tan acorde a la pieza musical, que más bien está pareciera que fuese creada para el dibujo.
Otro de los cortometrajes y, el que más me gusta, es “Pájaro de fuego (Firebird Suite) de Strawinski”, aquí nos resaltan al Espíritu de la Primavera y su fiel compañero el ciervo. Este espíritu despierta accidentalmente el Pájaro de fuego que dormía en un volcán y va destruyendo todo lo que primavera había hecho florecer después del duro invierno, incluso a ella misma. Gracias a su amigo el ciervo, vuelve a la vida sin gana de nada, pero poco a poco va recuperando la esperanza y hace volver crecer el bosque destruido.
La verdad me parece un claro ejemplo de los que es la narración visual, sin necesidad de palabras, se entiende todo el trasfondo y el escenario planteado, sobre todo a lo que la pieza nos quiere hacer llegar.
Opinión personal…
Se puede ubicar comentarios que, aunque Fantasía 2000 contiene piezas animadas de gran alabo, la poca duración de la misma y que algunas de las historias son repetidas de la anterior, agregando la poca coherencia y continuidad entre cada corto, en el sentido de que, en una orquesta se puede ubicar diferentes piezas, pero una tiene como secuencia de la otra, no sé si me explico y aquí no se logró eso, hizo que el film no se convirtiera un éxito en taquilla.
No obstante, para alguien que no había visto la primera, me parece una buena combinación entre el arte visual y el sonoro, un juego con los colores, las formas y las notas musicales a la perfección, dando a entender que la animación explora o todavía le falta por explorar, distintas maneras de expresar y ser mucho más que simples dibujos animados. Ambas películas tienen sus puntos buenos y malos y cada uno trae su manera de interpretarlo.
