Henry Danger: The Movie|| An Absolute Waste Of Time?
Right from the very first day I heard this movie had been released, I knew I wanted nothing to do with it because from past experience, none of the animation or comedy Tv shows that have been made into a movie turned out well. Of course I avoided the movie with all of my might but somewhere along the line, a friend visited.
The friend sent me a bunch of films. When I went through them, there was the movie I chose to avoid, sitting pretty in my movie player. One trait I’m at the verge of mastering is “not judging anything before its true potentials have been seen” and with this I thought, why don't I check out this movie, maybe it isn't as bad as I presume. The fact that I grudgingly spent two days watching an 86 minute long movie summarizes my experience. However, let’s get into the review of this movie.
About The Movie
Henry Hart becomes a local hero in Dystopia after faking his death in order to leave Swellview. Right about the time when fame knocks on Henry’s door, he is zapped out of Dystopia by a superfan, Missy Martins and this turns his world upside down. Henry and his superfan/ inexperienced sidekick must find a way to transport Henry back to Dystopia or risk being trapped forever in an alternate dimension with a bloodshot and raving electric vampire.
The action comedy thriller film was released on the 17th of January, 2025 and was directed by Joe Menendez. The movie stars characters from the original Henry Danger Nickelodeon Tv series like Jace Norman, Ella Anderson, Sean Ryan Fox and Michael Cohen.
My Opinion
Honestly, the movie producer lost me right from the start of this film but it got worse when I discovered that Henry was up against an ‘electric’ vampire. Of all possible villains, a vampire with electricity was the perfect fit. Touché.
The characters in this movie were simply terrible in their mode of action and delivery. One could clearly see their lack of enthusiasm and lackadaisical methods of acting. For an action movie, I was absolutely unimpressed.
The intermittent soundtracks made matters even worse. There were scene that would have just been okay without the soundtracks. Simply put, some scenes did not deserve the soundtracks and the scenes that supposedly deserved soundtracks were not even acted out properly.
Throughout the course of seeing this movie, I wondered if I was watching something straight out of Walt Disney Animation Studios because to reiterate, I was totally disappointed. The plot is a ludicrous one, some scenes were extremely tacky and to top it all up, the scenes were all very predictable. Not to sound offensive but I believe the director, producers and everyone who contributed to make this movie a reality could have either done better or done nothing at all.
The annoying part of it all is the fact that I opted to watch this movie when I was in search of a form of escape, in a bid to relax and recuperate, but I ended up more annoyed and tense.
On the flip side, one thing about this film was commendable and that was the cinematography. It wasn't the best I've come across but it wasn’t so bad. The lighting, camera movement and overall composition wasn't appalling. At least they got one thing right.
However, I liked the fact that amidst all of the rubble, a very clear theme of friendship was portrayed. The bond between Henry and his very close friend, Jasper, was on the brink of falling apart courtesy of Henry but before this could happen, Henry realised his mistake and made conscious efforts to amend their friendship. A good lesson indeed.
The movie seems like it is going to have a sequel and I'm convinced that if the sequel comes out sometime in the future, I wouldn't even bother seeing it to avoid a second dose of disappointment of course.

Recommendation and Rating.
We all have different preferences when it comes to movies but my recommendation stems from a place of utter dissatisfaction. It has been a while since I saw a movie that wasn't worthy of my recommendation but “Henry Danger: The movie” is one of such movies. I wouldn't advise anyone who is looking for an action packed thriller film to see this movie.
With that, I would give the movie a 4/10 rating and a disclaimer to watch at your own risk.

When I first saw this movie popping up on my notification bar, I just looked at it and was like, "Henry is all grown."
I never liked Henry Danger, even from the days of its series on Nickelodeon. So I knew this one wasn't gonna be an exception from the previous ones, thank God I haven't downloaded it 😅
