No More Bets (2023) ~ Movie Review

I'm going to have a quick review for this movie that I recently watch just last night and continue watching in the morning. This movie is a Chinese movie that portrays about gambling and abduction to the people and forces them to do work with the expense of their life.

I think this movie is somewhat a portrayal to the true to life story and there are some witnesses and victims of these kind of situation and scenario. You can see the victims at the end of the movie although, their faces were blurred because of their life might be in danger if they didn't blur their faces.

This movie is relates to a fraud and a scam activities like emailing these victims to play and gamble into their site but in the end, the people or the players will be more in debt that they will be addicted to play these kind of games.

I find this movie a very interesting one because we are now in a world where technology is advancing and also the fraudsters and scammers are prevalent in this kind of activity and up until today, there are lots of people that are doing these kind of jobs because they think it is an easy money and there's no sweat since the only thing that they do is scam people and get their money to generate lots of it.

This is a 2-hour movie and it feels like it's only an hour movie for me because the story keeps me interested while watching it. I think that this movie has something similar incident that occurred before that I saw on the news in the television before that the workers are not local but they recruit people who are looking for a job from other countries and offer them a big and hefty amount of salary but they will be tortured and the job description is different from what it is told to them.

Pan Sheng, is a Chinese programmer who is really good at programming and someone offered them work with a hefty amount of salary but the company's location is not in their place but in a remote area. Pan, together with his friends agree to go to that place because they think that the salary is good and working their together with friends will make them rich in no time.

Little did they know, the company that they are looking forward to will make their lives danger since it's not a company but an illegal operating company that they will do scams and other illegal stuffs in a remote area in overseas.

Pan will not do a decent work but they are forced to do a scam and fraud work on the internet and fishing lots of potential victims using ads to the people around the world where they will put ads to make it more legitimate and the innocent people will be the victims even if Pan doesn't like it but there will be punishment or torture them if they will not do their job correctly and worse, they will be dead if they continue to not do their job.

Calling for help to the locals or even the police won't help since in an area where you could go in that place is their territory and even if someone will escape, they will be return since the police officers are also part of that group.

That's what a big syndicate it is because that is a large scale syndicate where they will scam millions of money and we don't talk about millions but billions of money that are being scammed by the syndicate.

Thoughts

These kind of activities exists up until now and we don't know that one day you will fall victims from these fraudsters or you will be the victim to do to scam innocent people.

There are things that we can't stop them because the ones that are behind that kind of syndicate are the ones who has influence and lots of money because no one can operate a big syndicate if there's no rich people involve.

I like how the actors and actresses do their job with lots of emotions from this movie. Even if I am only watching, I can feel the pain, hatred, and the emotion they deliver from the movie.

What's the learning for this movie?

I think there are lots of learnings from this movie. One is "don't trust a too good to be true salaries abroad" because if that's too good to be true, then that is a syndicate that works underground and one might end up this kind of situation from the movie itself.

Also, be careful about the internet because there are people that will scam you if you are not careful that only clicks away and then all your assets will be gone in a few seconds.

Gambling is really bad and it will destroy anyone's life in a split second if you have a big loss in a gamble or even end up your life because you can't handle the stress from the debt that you are facing after you gamble. Anyone can gamble but don't gamble on what you can't afford because that will be the start of your stress that you might end of robbing people's money so that you can gamble.

For me, I would rate this movie a 10/10 because of the story and it also gives us a big learnings from this movie like how gambling is bad for someone's life and how a "too good to be true" jobs overseas are frauds.
