Don't you think it might be a mix of lack of quality and overconsumption? Something much of us are guilty of, myself included, in many ways ( from overindulging in food to what we watch and consume with our other senses )?
These days, I try hard to do less ( also reading a book on this subject haha! ) but it's easier said than done. In the afternoon I walked to the nearby river beach and spent some time lying on my back, looking at birds and the slowly moving clouds.

I think it has to do with overconsumption, as usual though I always do thing quite excessively and get bored. Even with reading, I recently get back after not reading for a few weeks now.
You sound ( more than ) a little bit like me. I guess both of us have hyper-active brains.
