Jahkor is an African-American boy who was born in a poor neighborhood in the United States, grew up seeing the face of death, in the midst of gangs, drugs and guns. He follows in the footsteps of his father, a gang member serving a life sentence. His destiny will be the one the system has prepared for him. Now he is serving his sentence with his father, recalling the circumstances that led him to live behind bars.
This is the theme of the movie All Day and a Night is a production of the year 2020 by Joe Robert Cole.
Although the film deals with a subject that is nothing new in cinema, it invites us to reflect on the harsh reality that young African Americans in the United States must face, since the lack of opportunities forces them to become delinquents.
Being poor and being black is a double condemnation in a country that treats them as waste. Social resentment grows among gangs that have to weave a world apart from the white world. Hip hop will be an escape route to unveil the harsh reality they live in.
Cole wants to show us the racism and violence with which the system treats African-Americans, the way in which it is sustained by the sacrifice of entire generations condemned to poverty, war and a life of crime
Despite all the fatalistic climate with which the conflict is narrated in the film, the director finally resolves it through the protagonist's son. His father's love will make him fight to get out of this cycle. Although being in or out of prison is the same thing. Jahkor promises to be someone for the little boy.

Jahkor es un niño afroamericano que nació en un barrio pobre de los EEUU, creció viéndole la cara a la muerte, en medio de pandillas, drogas y armas. Va detrás de los pasos de su padre un pandillero que cumple cadena perpetua. Su destino será el que sistema ha preparado para él . Ahora cumple condena junto a su padre rememorando las circunstancias que lo llevaron a vivir tras las rejas.

Aunque la película trata un tema que no es nada nuevo en el cine, nos invita a reflexionar sobre la dura realidad a la que deben enfrentarse los jóvenes afroamericanos en los EEUU, puesto que la falta de oportunidades les obliga a convertirse en delincuentes.
Ser pobre y ser negro, es una doble condena en un país que los trata como desechos. El resentimiento social crece entre pandillas que han de tejer un mundo aparte del mundo de los blancos. El hip hop será una vía de escape para develar la dura realidad que viven.
Cole quiere mostrarnos el racismo y la violencia con la que el sistema trata a los afroamericanos., la forma en el que se sostiene gracias al sacrificio de generaciones completas condenadas a la pobreza, la guerra y la vida delincuencial.
Pese a todo el clima fatalista con el que se narra el conflicto en la película, finalmente su director, lo resuelve a través del hijo del protagonista. El amor de padre le hará luchar por salir de ese ciclo. Aunque estar dentro o fuera de la cárcel es lo mismo, Jahkor promete ser alguien para el pequeño.
