The Impact of Crime Movies on Society: Glamourizing or Warning?

Through the years we've come to see several movies that adopt crime and action scenes and seem as though they exalt crime and acts of criminals; some even go as far as making a movie in honor of some well-known criminals and previous crime occurrences, making it seem as though it's fashionable in our world today, and there has been fear amongst some people that this act would encourage criminals and as well put our society in a tight spot, but is that truly the case? Well, in my opinion, I think this is a two-way thing, and I'll explain further during the course of these articles.

Of a truth, I can't help but admit that movies adapted on crime can pose a danger to our society, and that's because some of the scenes and storyline are so detailed and inspiring to the point where it can lead to more cre in the society, as criminals can easily draw inspiration and guidelines from some of those movies to operate in our neighborhood, and there're loads of movies of that nature, meaning if such were practices in a third-world country, it might go on to work and affect the people.

It's also disheartened to see movies that display the lives of some criminals and crime, making it seem as though what they did was right, because at the end of the day the main character of a movie is always being loved by many regardless of if they're evil or good, and one of such examples is a movie like Money Heist that depicts the lives of armed robbers who rob banks and the like, even going on to kill several people and put the bank owners in debt.

Yet everyone loves the characters of the movie, from Tokyo to Berlin, professor and every other one of them. It's so sickling seeing how what they're doing was made to seem cool, and since they're the main character, we the viewers tend to wish them well, even hate some of the police and law enforcement agencies trying to apprehend them, and that's shows the effect of these movies on the people, and if criminals were to watch some of the strategies or professors in that movie, they'll adopt it in real life and cause havoc in the society.

Also, movies that exhaust criminals are also annoying, and that's why I'm not much of a big fan of the movie that shows the life of Pablo Escobar, because despite him being bad and into drugs, the movie made everyone love him and even feel sorry for him at the point of his death, making us forget the actual fact that his business and attitude pose dangers to our lives mentally and physically.

On the other hand, while these movies seem to inspire criminals, they can as well be a source of safety education and awareness that helps us in real life. Although generally movies are seen as a source of entertainment, they can as well inspire and teach us things that can go on to play an important role in our lives, and that's why some crime-related movies can as well help safeguard us or go on to even change the mindset of a criminal.

Because watching how the lives of those criminals in the movies ended can as well bring them to the realization that if they continue on such a path, then their end is near, and to be on a safer side, it's better to turn a new leaf, become a good person, and impact life positively, unlike negatively like they did in the past.

It's natural to have different reactions and the vast majority really have an affinity with these characters like Berlin, who had an excellent voice actor here in Brazil that only increased the taste for the series even more!

Yea that's true, everyone have different personalities about things.
But then I agree with you on the fact that such movies attract us to more of that genre.

You’re right, we can’t shy away from the fact that these movies have both negative and positive effects. They are quite informative movies but too bad some people learn just the negative aspects from it and it is most times due to the fact that they don’t even know these movies are even having an effect on them.

Yes it's indeed a shame how most people only adopt the negative aspects despite how it can also impact them positively.
