Review: “¿Estás ahí, Dios? Soy yo, Margaret.” [ESP - ENG]
En la película que hoy les vengo a recomendar encontramos exactamente este mismo escenario pero ejemplificado en la vida de una niña de once años, que a pesar de su corta edad considera hablar con Dios para desahogar sus pensamientos y emociones.
La trama se desarrolla en los cambios de los planes familiares por mudarse de ciudad debido a un nuevo ascenso que obtiene el padre, generando en Margaret, la niña, angustia por tener que dejar la vida a la que está acostumbrada e incertidumbre por no saber lo que le espera en su nueva ciudad.
En el proceso de adaptación, Margaret nuevamente se ve en la necesidad de hablar con Dios para que le ayude a encajar en su nueva vida, teniendo conflictos ahora con los cambios de su cuerpo debido a su desarrollo, con entablar nuevos amigos y confusión sobre qué religión profesar.
Cuando decidí ver esta película, me intrigaba saber de qué manera iban a abordar el tema de Dios y la religión, creo que pocos saben pero soy fiel creyente de que hay un Dios Todopoderoso que está presto para ayudarnos y amarnos en todo momento, pensé que tal vez sería difícil encontrar un balance y un mensaje correcto para el público, pero quedé encantada totalmente con el desarrollo de la trama y su desenlace, pues en ella tocan temas como el derecho a elegir, el respeto por la toma de decisiones y la experiencia propia sobre lo que es Dios realmente para cada uno. Siento además que fue bastante estratégico desarrollar estos temas desde la perspectiva de un infante para así poder concientizar sobre la imposición de religión y el daño que esto puede generar en personitas que están empezando a conocer el mundo.
Con respecto a la escenografía, encontraremos planos y escenas llenos de mucho color que a mi parecer pueden referenciar un ambiente sano y presto para que un niño pueda crecer libremente. Además, fue bastante agradable y cómico ver los problemas a los que se enfrentan los niños en su desarrollo, sintiéndose tan confusos y avergonzados como si jamás podrán superarlo, siendo situaciones que para los adultos solo pueden causar gracia porque ya hemos pasado por eso y al final entendemos que el mundo es mucho más grande y amplio que aquellas pequeñeces que vivimos de niños.
“¿Estás ahí, Dios? Soy yo, Margaret.” es una película para todo público, que muy bien se puede disfrutar en un domingo familiar, para compartir risas, anécdotas y tiempo de calidad con nuestros seres queridos. También es una película que se puede aprovechar para intentar comprender lo que sienten los más pequeños y encontrar una mejor solución junto con ellos a cualquier conflicto que puedan tener.
Espero que se animen a verla pronto y puedan disfrutarlo tanto como yo.

All of us at some point have found ourselves in situations of shame, sadness and despair and this has probably put us in search of some divine or heavenly help or answer; I think this is a natural reaction of human beings because deep down we recognize that there must be a higher power willing to help us in everything, but when nothing happens, when we do not receive what we ask for then the door is open for doubt, for confusion and we enter into conflict to know if God is really listening to us, leading us to reconsider its existence and to choose whether I decide to believe or not.
In the film that I am recommending today we find exactly this same scenario but exemplified in the life of an eleven year old girl, who despite her young age, considers talking to God to unburden her thoughts and emotions.
The plot develops in the changes of the family plans to move to a new city due to a new promotion that the father gets, generating in Margaret, the girl, anguish for having to leave the life she is used to and uncertainty for not knowing what awaits her in her new city.
In the process of adaptation, Margaret again finds herself in the need to talk to God to help her fit into her new life, having conflicts now with the changes in her body due to her development, with making new friends and confusion about what religion to profess.
When I decided to see this film, I was intrigued to know how they were going to address the issue of God and religion, I think few know but I am a faithful believer that there is an Almighty God who is ready to help us and love us at all times, I thought it might be difficult to find a balance and a correct message for the public, but I was totally delighted with the development of the plot and its outcome, because it touches on issues such as the right to choose, respect for decision making and own experience about what God really is for each one. I also feel that it was quite strategic to develop these themes from the perspective of an infant in order to raise awareness about the imposition of religion and the damage that this can generate in little people who are just beginning to know the world.
Regarding the scenography, we will find shots and scenes full of color that in my opinion can refer to a healthy environment and ready for a child to grow freely. In addition, it was quite nice and comical to see the problems that children face in their development, feeling so confused and embarrassed as if they will never be able to overcome it, being situations that for adults can only be funny because we have already been through it and in the end we understand that the world is much bigger and wider than those little things we lived as children.
"Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret." is a movie for all audiences, which can very well be enjoyed on a family Sunday, to share laughter, anecdotes and quality time with our loved ones. It is also a movie that can be used to try to understand what the little ones feel and find a better solution together with them to any conflict they may have.
I hope you are encouraged to watch it soon and can enjoy it as much as I did.
