El Decamerón: Una adaptación muy "Netflix", pero me hizo reir 📖 ES|ENG

No son 10 capítulos, pero me hizo reir... ✍🏻

El Decamerón es una obra literaria clásica escrita por Giovanni Boccaccio a mediados del siglo 14, yo me enteré de la existencia de esta obra hace años viviendo en casa de mis abuelos paternos, ya que mi abuelo tenía el libro y el título llamaba mi atención. La edición del libro en cuestión no tenía ninguna sinopsis, así que me toco investigar en Google, en eso descubrí que El Decamerón es considerada una de las cumbres de la literatura italiana y que incluso el vaticano la baneo por su contenido que va contra "las buenas costumbres". Todo esto me dio curiosidad, así que termine leyendo el libro, el cual me pareció una lectura interesante. Básicamente, la obra se compone de cien cuentos narrados por un grupo de diez jóvenes, siete mujeres y tres hombres, que se refugian en una villa a las afueras de Florencia para escapar de la peste negra que asola la ciudad.

Cuando me entere de que Netflix se aventuró en adaptar "El Decameron", sabía que no me la perdería y aquí estoy, ya la vi y debo decir que me gusto. La adaptación brinda una mezcla de humor negro, drama y un enfoque moderno a las historias clásicas. La serie, compuesta por tan solo 8 capítulos (pienso que debieron ser 10 para hacerle honor al nombre, pero bueno 😅), sigue la estructura original del libro en aspecto de que diez personas se refugian en el campo para escapar de la peste negra que asola Florencia, solo que en este caso ellos representan las historias y muy poco es lo que cuentan.

Esta adaptación es llamativa, la producción como tal es impecable, su ambientación y vestuario son detallados y se acercan bastante al período histórico que representa. La serie logra mantener el tono ligero y pícaro de las historias originales, pero con un toque contemporáneo que hace que el contenido sea accesible y relevante para las audiencias modernas. Además, el elenco, compuesto por actores talentosos y carismáticos, aporta vida y profundidad a los personajes, haciendo que cada historia se sienta fresca. Personalmente, quiero destacar esto último, de verdad me gustaron las actuaciones de los actores, muy buenas expresiones faciales las de todos.

Como siempre, a pesar de que la serie me resulto buena, creo que cae en el uso excesivo de licencias creativas que pueden distorsionar la visión original de Boccaccio. Algunos fans podrían sentir que las adaptaciones y modernizaciones de ciertos cuentos restan valor a la rica tradición literaria de la obra, sin embargo, para mí esto no resulta muy grave en este caso en particular, la serie muestra de una manera pintoresca la inmoralidad y sombra en la que puede caer el ser humano. Igual, quienes deseen ver otra versión de esta obra, existe una película del año 1971 que les puede resultar más fiel al libro, recuerdo haber visto a mi abuelo viéndola también. 🤣

Pienso que la versión de Netflix de "El Decameron" es una reinterpretación que encaja con nuestros tiempos actuales y visualmente atractiva de un clásico de la literatura. Aunque estoy consciente de que puede no satisfacer a todos los amantes de la obra original, ofrece una experiencia entretenida que captura la esencia del libro a su modo. Yo recomiendo esta serie, especialmente para aquellos que disfrutan de la mezcla de lo histórico con lo contemporáneo.

👁️: En "El Decamerón" podrán encontrar amor, fortuna, traición, moralidad, blasfemia, erotismo y demás, pero todo representado de una manera humorística. La crítica social no falta y la muestra de como el ser humano siempre busca prevalecer da mucho que pensar, nada es excesivo, pero creo que es algo a tener en consideración antes de ver la serie.

The Decameron is a classic literary piece written by Giovanni Boccaccio in the middle of the 14th century, I learned of the existence of this book years ago while living at my paternal grandparents' house, since my grandfather had the book and the title caught my attention. The edition of the book in question had no synopsis, so I had to do some research on Google and then I discovered that The Decameron is considered one of the highlights of Italian literature and that even the Vatican banned it because of its content that goes against “good morals”. All this made me curious, so I ended up reading the book, which I found to be an interesting read. Basically, the piece is made up of one hundred stories narrated by a group of ten people, seven women and three men, who take refuge in a villa on the outside of Florencia to escape the black plague that is devastating the city.

When I heard that Netflix was venturing into adapting “The Decameron”, I knew I wouldn't miss it and here I am, I've already seen it and I must say I liked it. The adaptation provides a mix of black humor, drama and a modern approach to the classic stories. The series, composed of only 8 chapters (I think it should have been 10 to honor the name, but okay 😅), follows the original structure of the book in the aspect that ten people take refuge in the countryside to escape the black plague that plagues Florencia, only in this case they represent the stories and very little is what they tell.

This adaptation is eye-catching, the production itself is impeccable, the setting and costumes are detailed and very close to the historical period it depicts. The series manages to maintain the light and mischievous tone of the original stories, but with a contemporary twist that makes the content accessible and relevant to modern audiences. In addition, the cast, composed of talented and charismatic actors, brings life and depth to the characters, making each story feel fresh. Personally, I want to highlight the latter, I really liked the performances of the actors, very good facial expressions from all of them.

As always, although I found the series to be good, I think it falls into the overuse of creative licenses that can distort the original vision of Boccaccio. Some fans may feel that the adaptations and modernizations of certain stories detract from the rich literary tradition of the work, however, for me this is not too serious in this particular case, the series shows in a picturesque way the immorality and shadows that human beings can fall into. Anyway, for those who wish to see another version of this work, there is a movie from 1971 that may be more faithful to the book, I remember seeing my grandfather watching it too. 🤣

I think Netflix's version of “The Decameron” is a modern-day, visually appealing reinterpretation of a literary classic. While I'm aware that it may not satisfy all lovers of the original work, it offers an entertaining experience that captures the essence of the book in its own way. I recommend this series, especially for those who enjoy blending the historical with the contemporary.

👁️: In “The Decameron” you will find love, fortune, betrayal, morality, blasphemy, eroticism and so on, but all depicted in a humorous way. The social criticism is not missing and the display of how the human being always seeks to prevail gives a lot to think about, nothing is excessive, but I think it is something to take into consideration before watching the series.
