Dinner en America es una película de comedia y drama del año 2020 que decidí ver porque un amigo la vio, le gusto y menciono que yo le había recordado a la protagonista por algo que dije, entonces me dio curiosidad. La película me resulto entrañable y entretenida, definitivamente no es para todo el mundo y, honestamente, si termine encontrando similitudes entre la protagonista y mi persona, pero no muchas.

La película nos muestra a dos protagonistas bastante particulares, Simon y Patty, uno un rockero de comportamientos dudosos y la otra una chica de comportamiento "poco común" (asumí que tiene una condición), quienes se conocen en circunstancias extrañas y terminan desarrollando sentimientos el uno por el otro a medida que comparten tiempo juntos haciendo desastres por aquí y por allá. Para mí el que estos dos se conocieran fue obra del destino, ya que Patty tiene una banda favorita y "casualmente" Simon es un integrante de esa banda, cosa que en un inicio ella no sabía, ya que este oculta su identidad utilizando una máscara, ¿que cosas no?

El romance de Simon y Patty, a pesar de ser los dos un poco extraños, termina siendo bonito en su particular forma... Él, aunque no sería el prospecto que un padre escogería para su hija, no tiene malos sentimientos y en su rebeldía, no ha perdido valores morales importantes. Ella por su lado es inocente, pero al mismo tiempo no lo es, ¿si me entienden?, hay cosas que escapan de su entendimiento, pero es en general dulce. Ellos son el tipo de personas que normalmente no encajan en la sociedad, pero eso no les importa, juntos forman un vínculo bonito, de esos que poco se ven, lo cual me recuerda que muchas veces son las personas más particulares las que suelen tener las mejores relaciones, atribuyo esto a la autenticidad de las mismas.

Si hablamos un poco de la estética y ambientación, pues nos encontramos con unos suburbios, estilos rockeros, un poco de color por aquí y por allá, pero no muchos escenarios, la película es sencilla, no es que sucedan muchas cosas, así que se entiende que no había la necesidad de tanta parafernalia o diferentes locaciones, el enfoque principal son los personajes y sus particularidades. El vestuario creo que es una de las cosas que más destaca de la película, es variado y a mí específicamente me gustaron los outfits de Patty, tengo unos parecidos y otros que me gustaría tener, los usaría sin problema.

Esta película es una que considero buena para ver un fin de semana comiendo algo rico, es entretenida y uno llega a sentir agrado por los personajes, pero eso es todo, no encontraran una mega producción ni nada muy profundo. Yo recomendaría esta película a quienes les guste lo extraño, lo diferente, la rebeldía, el rock y el romance fuera de los moldes establecidos, si te gustan esas cosas, seguro te gustará, a mí me gusto, pero claro, aquí donde me ven puedo llegar a ser bastante extraña. 😆

Dinner in America is a comedy-drama movie from 2020 that I decided to watch because a friend saw it, liked it and mentioned that I reminded him of the main character because of something I said, so I got curious. I found the movie endearing and entertaining, it's definitely not for everyone and, honestly, I did end up finding similarities between the protagonist and myself, but not many.

The film shows us two rather unique protagonists, Simon and Patty, one a rocker with questionable behavior and the other a girl with "unusual" behavior (I assumed she has a mental condition), who meet under odd circumstances and end up developing feelings for each other as they spend time together making messes here and there. For me the fact that these two met was the work of destiny, since Patty has a favorite band and "coincidentally" Simon is a member of that band, something she didn't know at the beginning, since he hides his identity using a mask, what a thing, right?

Simon and Patty's romance, despite both being a bit strange, ends up being lovely in its own particular way... He, although he would not be the prospect that a father would choose for his daughter, has no bad feelings and in his rebelliousness, he has not lost important moral values. She on the other hand is innocent, but at the same time she is not, if you know what I mean, there are things that escape her understanding, but she is generally sweet. They are the type of people that normally don't fit in society, but that doesn't matter to them, together they form a nice bond, the kind that you rarely see, which reminds me that many times it's the most particular people that tend to have the best relationships, I attribute this to the authenticity of them.

If we talk a little about the aesthetics and setting, we find some suburbs, rock styles, a little color here and there, but not many scenarios, the film is simple, not that many things happen, so it is understandable that there was no need for so much paraphernalia or different locations, the main focus is on the characters and their particularities. The wardrobe I think is one of the things that stands out the most in the movie, it's diverse and I specifically liked Patty's outfits, I have some similar ones and others that I would like to have, I would wear them without any problem.

This movie is one that I consider good to watch on a weekend while eating something delicious, it's entertaining and one gets to like the characters, but that's all, you won't find a mega production or anything very deep. I would recommend this movie to those who like strange, different, rebellious, rock and romance out of the established molds, if you like those things, you will like it for sure, I liked it, but of course, here where you see me I can be pretty weird. 😆
