Code 8 and Code 8: Part II – A story of survival, sacrifice and discrimination in a futuristic world. It was well worth the time.

The society presented is a dystopian one, of a city called Lincoln City, with drones patrolling the streets and security robots that make the law, it becomes almost a character in itself. The atmosphere is oppressive, but realistic, offering a subtle reflection of modern societies that tend to marginalize minorities. Robbie Amell delivers a vulnerable and determined performance, while Stephen Amell (Garrett) is magnetic as the charismatic but complex leader of the criminal group. The relationship between the two evolves naturally, moving from openness to tension.
What is particularly impressive is the way the film builds its tension: Conner's decisions push him deeper and deeper into the underworld, and the missions orchestrated by Garrett are dangerous, thrilling and impeccably choreographed. But the real strength of the film is the way it makes us empathize with the characters. Conner is not a classic hero - he is a flawed man, caught between circumstances and the desire to protect his family.
The second part, published in 2023, deepens this universe, offering more action, more complexity and increased stakes. I particularly liked the fact that the films don't glorify special abilities, but treat them as a natural part of the world, with good and bad. In addition, the relationships between the characters are complex and believable, which adds an extra layer of depth to the story.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the way the films approach current themes, such as discrimination and social inequality, in a futuristic context. These themes, i could say, offer an opportunity to reflect on your own world, making the films relevant and provocative....I enjoyed it immensely.
