Igodo is the Nollywood movie with the best village setting.
Introduction.
In 1999, the Nollywood released this Nollywood classic called IGODO (otherwise known as "The Land of the Living Dead"). It's set is a rural village sorounded by tick forest.
The story line is all about a quest involving seven warriors, who are to retrieve a lost or stollen Igodo stone from the land of the spirits. The Igodo stone is believed to have some spiritual powers.
Setting.
This movie is set in a typical Nigerian village, sorrounded by a very tick forest. The setting is aimed at promoting the culture of the Nigerian people.
This is because, the vast Nigerian culture is a heritage which connects with both local and foreign audience.
Storyline.
The movie; Igodo centers around the theft of the "Igodo stone" which is actually a secred Object with some spiritual powers. The loss of this stone brought about a curse on the entire village which resulted to a plague of living-dead creatures tht visit and terrorize the entire village.
To salvage the situation, the chief priest after consulting with the gods, said the only solution for the plague is that the lost igodo to be returned. A quest to retrieve the secred stone was announced. The "Igwe" (King) announced that, anyone who emberks on the journey to the land of the dead and returns with the Igodo would be given some huge sums of money, given a chiefteny title and also marry the princess.
Because the price or incentives are much, seven warriors came forward indicating interest to venture into the forest on search of the Igodo. The chiefpriest took some days to fortify them and they set out for the journey.
The journey was into the forest. On their way, they encountered many obstacles that claimed the lifes of many. Even with all the charms given to them by the native doctor, only two of them managed to get to the land of the dead.
At the point they were to vollect the Igodo and start returning, a blood sacrifice was required, one ofbthe warriors opted and sacrificed himself to enable the other person take home the Igodo and save the rest of the village from the plague.
Theme.
Igodo potrays Sacrifice, Honor, Bravery, and highligts the fact that our actions has consequences. It goes on to show how important it is to preserve and promote our culure as a people.
Action and adventure.
The movie is both action and adventure saddled. While it goes deep exploring and projecting our culture, you will also see that the worriors had to faceoff with many creatures in their quest to retrieve the Igodo. Therefore, the movie is both an action movies and an adventurous movie.
Igodo promoted our culture and tradition.
Igodo is a movie Nollywood use to show the world how deep our culture is. There were displays of rituals, cultural dance, traditional attire and use of indigenous languages. The craftmen behimd the movie used it to showcase our rich cultural heritage.
Spread (International reach).
Igodo was not only appreciated by Nigerians, it was also loved by Nigerians in diaspora, international audience who are interested in african movie and culture. The movie helped a great deal towards making Nollywood globally recognized as a renowned film industry.
Conclusion.
In conclusion, Igodo is a movie that shows our rich culture, it also shows our bravety, sacrificial spirit and folklore.
It is a great movie that every African (home and abroad) shold have at home. It should be preserved for generations unborn to see and know whom we are.

The mysteries, the search, the bonding while on the search and most importantly, the fulfilling end they give 😍
I missed this particular movie but I've seen one like this before.
It's an interesting movie.
