Mary : The Unseen Tale
It's a few days to Christmas and we are all up and set for some nativity and generally the birth of Baby Jesus. I have been watching a lot of movies on Netflix recently, particularly about the season(CHRISTMAS).
While scouting for what to watch, I stumbled on The movie , “MARY”.
The film is directed by D.J. Caruso and stars Noa Cohen as Mary, Ido Tako as Joseph, and Anthony Hopkins as King Herod.
This 2024 movie "Mary" is a biblical epic solely centered on the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, from her perspective. Her perspective includes her birthday to Joakim and Anne as a gift from God. In return , they offered their only child to Serve in the temple. The movie captured her birth, early childhood and her growth till she was sent to the temple.
The movie follows Mary's journey as she navigates her growth and good deeds in the temple, and how her marriage with Joseph was divinely orchestrated. The immaculate conception of Jesus as an unexpected pregnancy in the sight of the people, her marriage to Joseph, and her subsequent flight to Egypt to escape King Herod's wrath. Along the way, the film explores themes of faith, family, and resilience.
Watching this Movie, I noticed how the birth of Jesus wasn't that swift, right from the moment the Temple Girl(Mary) became Pregnant. She faced challenges from the priest, the people and almost from her family if not the Intervention of Angel Gabriel who kept on Revealing himself to Her Parents.
Besides being stoned to death as the law of the Land demanded, Mary was also on the run at the subsequent pursuit of King Herod who was bent on Devouring the Messiah using his Slayman Marcellus.
Well at the end of all the challenges and pursuits, Mary was being moved by Joseph to Bethlehem His Hometown, where Baby Jesus was Being delivered in the Manger. The star shone so bright and visible for all to see as the prophet had Prophesied. There was a feast in Bethlehem for the Birth of the Messiah but that was not the End of the war.
The Star brought even More distress as Herod never Went back on His Words. It got to an extent where he commanded all the male infants to be killed. Since the birth of Jesus was Divinely Orchestrated, he was protected and shielded from all harm.
Reviews of the movie have been mixed, with some critics praising its visually stunning depiction of ancient Israel and others finding it to be a predictable and uninspired retelling of a familiar story.
One reviewer noted that while the film attempts to humanize Mary and make her relatable to modern audiences, it ultimately falls short in its characterization and storytelling.

My Lessons:
Family is Everything: having that little group of people bonded by Blood that trust and believe you and can vouch for you is a very Big Flex. I have learnt that family background plays a very big role in the success of an individual. They are meant to be your Supporters and your number is number 1 Fan, but in the case where the reverse is the case, you'll find so many difficulties before reaching your Peak.
In the case of Mary, she had Parents that believed her and her safety was paramount. They shielded and protected their daughter from every harm .
The Second Lesson I learnt is that , when you have an assignment,a great one at that, you'll encounter a lot of troubles, fights and distress on the way. Amidst this is pertinent that you stay focused and possess some High level of Grit.
