A private museum exhibition, the House of Arms and Maps houses an impressive collection of maps, engravings, drawings, lithographs, old books dating from the 16th to the early 20th century, weapons, armour, port, numismatic pieces from all over the world from prehistory to the present day.
The collection of weapons includes pieces dating back to the 3rd century BC, of Greek, Dacian, Roman, Byzantine, Habsburg, Russian, Romanian origin - white and firearms, offensive, defensive and hunting weapons.
The more than 500 maps, graphic works, lithographs and engravings represent Romanian historical regions, cities (Iasi in 1880, Braila in 1820, Orșova in 1880, Timișoara in 1650), population and customs (Paparuda - published in the Illustrated London News in 1905), areas of Romania (Danube Caves - 1780, including the former Ada-Kaleh Island - 1738), countries of the world. Among them, the oldest image of Sighisoara - an engraving from 1666. With the exception of a few reproductions from certain books, all the pieces are authentic and of great value.
Very valuable is also the numismatic patrimony, documents (passport issued to Alexandru Ioan Cuza in 1866), shares and securities. Coins and banknotes are exhibited chronologically, starting with those older than 2000 years. There are Greek, Roman, Dacian, Byzantine, medieval and modern coins.
The collection of old books is one of the largest in the country, comprising copies from the 16th to the 20th century - first volumes, religious works. Works belonging to Dimitrie Cantemir ("History of the Growth and Decline of the Ottoman Empire", part I, edition published in London in 1734), Johannes Honterus, etc. Their presentation gives an insight into the evolution of Romanian printing and the Romanian language.

After visiting the museum we got hungry so we enjoyed two very delicious pizzas, even if you are inside a fortress there are plenty of restaurants here where you can have delicious food.
