Fireheart: Definitely Worth The Title

On a stormy night, there's a delightful experience in watching a good adventure comedy film with the volume louder than the rain's patter on the roof.

The title of this film in itself is motivating, and even before hitting the play button, one can sense the colorful animation's essence.

Synopsis

A girl named Georgia dreams of becoming the first-ever female firefighter. Due to gender roles, she is talked out of following her dreams by her father, Shawn Nolan who was once a renowned firefighter but retired to protect his daughter.

Disregarding her father's gender role sermons, Georgia secretly trains with her loyal dog, Ember, to be fit and strong for when an opportunity to save people arises.

During one secret rooftop training session with Ember, the Mayor of New York visits Shawn Nolan, urging him to lead the investigation into the disappearance of the city's firemen after a mysterious arsonist starts burning down Broadway.

Eavesdropping on the conversation, Georgia becomes desperate to help her father.

She disguises herself as a man and volunteers for the search but lacks experience in handling real-time firefighting tools and needs to learn fast to stay on the team.

One thing about gender roles is that they're limiting and those who chose not to believe or follow these scripted societal rules are indeed the ones with a fire heart.

A person with a fire heart doesn't give up easily; they fight through limitations, proving they're worthy of the position they fought for.

This movie is thought-provoking and inspiring. While I don't practice or tolerate gender roles, I can't ignore the fact that they persist. Some parents make a singsong out of it in a rude manner, dimming out those adorable sparks in children.

Women are just as strong and up to any task when they put their minds to it.

I'd rate the film 4.5/5. I don't know why I'm leaving out the other half, but I guess I'm following the grading system of my lecturers. Lol. It's worth watching with the family, offering good humor, nice cinematography, an exciting soundtrack, and plenty of positive messages.

Inspired by real-life stories of the world's first female firefighters, who wouldn't love a film based on true stories?

Released on 2nd February 2022 and directed by Laurent Zeitoun and Theodore Ty.
