The Ruins (2008) : When A Fun Vacation Turned Into Tragedy
If you were on a vacation with friends and suddenly a person you met invited you into an appealing adventure, possibly a once in a lifetime experience, would you take the risk and join?
For most adventure junkies, it'd be an easy yes... just like in the movie, THE RUINS.

In the movie, a group of friends were enjoying their vacation in Mexico when suddenly a person they befriended on this trip told them about an archaeological site in the middle of the woods exists. The guys' brother and brother's girlfriend who is an archaeologist discovered the ruins and are currently exploring it.
He was planning to go to the said site the next day and invited his new found friends to come with him. It started as a very fun and exciting trip until crazy and unimaginable things started happening once they arrived in the site.

The story and setting were quite simple, but I did enjoy watching it. It's more creepy than scary, to be honest. The weak-hearted can survive it, but it would certainly make you feel queasy. So, if you have a weak stomach, it's better not to take a risk. Personally, I'm good with blood and the like but there are scenes in the movie that are quite disturbing. The actors did a great job in making me feel that way. xD
It's also a bit of an old movie, so technically, the effects aren't as advanced, but I guess that made them more realistic in some way.

Here's the trailer of the movie. It doesn't say much about the actual plot, but perhaps you can see bits and pieces of what I meant when I say creepy. haha
I watched the movie with my papa at home and it took us a while to get over what we just saw. We kept on talking about it over dinner that mama got angry at us because even though she didn't watch it with us, she somehow could picture out what we were discussing.
The movie wasn't the best, but it sure was impactful! I watched it last month and upon writing this now, I can still vividly imagine some scenes from the movie... and I tell you, it's not something that I should think about. Ugh! haha I enjoyed it, though! :P
If you're curious about it, give it a try! Just don't say that I didn't warn you... it might get under your skin literally and figuratively!
