"SAFE"... or is it? (TV Mini Series)

After watching the TV series based on Harlan Coben's STAY CLOSE last time, I decided to watch some other series on Netflix which were based on the same writer's novels. I really enjoyed Stay Close and if you're interested about my opinion on it here was my previous post.

When I checked, there were several series, so I decided to watch one this week and I chose SAFE.

Let's talk about it...

What is the series about?

  • Genre: Crime | Drama | Mystery

Tom Delaney, a surgeon who has recently lost his wife, is desperately trying to find his missing daughter Jenny. Jenny went to a party hosted by the popular girl in their school and hasn't been seen since then. While looking for his missing kid, he somehow uncovered some of the darkest secrets of the people who are close to him.

They were supposed to live in a "safe" and gated community. However, the question is... "Is the gate created to protect the people living inside? Or is it to keep the culprit from running away?

Allow me to share the trailer below.

What I think about the series:

After watching this series, I somehow understand how the writer of the original novel thinks and how his writing style is like.

I noticed that there is a past secret or occurrence involved that will later resurface in the present and would make the story more complicated and intriguing. There are a lot of connections among various characters and the story would be full of plot twists that you'd think everyone could be a suspect.

I like this kind of story or writing style so much. I like how it makes me create an idea but will later be proved wrong, so I try looking at the other part of the picture. I enjoy mystery series like this, so I decided to watch all series based on Harlan Coben's works on Netflix.

Despite having the same or similar elements as Stay Close (the one I watched last time), SAFE has some unique elements to it. The setting itself is interesting since it's mostly just in one place where everybody knows everyone. But in the end of the day, no secret will remain hidden forever. ;)

All in all, I also really enjoyed this mini-series. I'll start with a new one tonight since it's my night off. If you're into mystery, plot-twists and "headache", you should give this one a shot. Thanks for checking this post! See you around! (^^,)/

I love mystery movies and series, so this is definitely one I must see. I love everything that surrounds the characters and makes you think you don't know them at all.

That thing you say about liking to look at the other side of the story is key when watching this type of genre. Thanks for sharing your review with us.
