KAIJUU NO KODOMO --- a Philosophical Anime Perfect for "Umi no Hi"! <3
It's Sea Day in Japan today, so allow me to share an anime which is related to this theme. It's called KAIJUU NO KODOMO or Children of the Sea in English.

This movie is adapted from a manga of the same title. I haven't read the manga, but would love to do so in the coming days. There are several reasons why I want to read the manga, but let's talk about the movie first.

When the main character Ruka was young, both her parents worked in the aquarium. Because of that, she often went to the place and has always been fascinated with the beautiful underwater creatures.
Fastforward to her summer vacation in her teens, her life revolved around handball. It's her way to escape their house, especially her alcoholic mother. However, things didn't go well with the club one day, so she decided to go to the aquarium where her father still works.

While in the aquarium, she met a mysterious young boy named Umi. For some reasons both of them felt a connection with each other, so they almost immediately became friends.

Umi has a brother named Sora. They both have a strange affinity and relationship with the ocean. They're said to raised by some Dugongs when they were young. When they were found in the ocean, some marine biologists and the aquarium sheltered them for further studies and experiment.

The three of them explored the mystical world under the sea together while trying to find out more about an eccentric festival which caused various anomalies underwater.
Allow me to show you the official trailer of the said movie below.

I got goosebumps watching this movie!
The art and animation style brought me to an entirely different world filled with mysticism. I could just watch it for its art and animation. That is more than enough for me. haha
The story is quite philosophical in a way that it's difficult to understand, but I really like it. I'm not that interested in Philosophy as a subject, but I can spend hours talking about the essence of life and it can be likened to the universe.
When I taught in the English academy 10 years ago, I met a friend who I had these kinds of conversation with. We hung around my room during our break time and we talk about various topics related to Philosophy and the like.
Thanks to that, I found this movie very nostalgic and I was able to appreciate the story. In addition, I love how they poetically explained the events in the film. It's just so good!
Even if you're not interested in such topics or maybe how the story was presented, I still recommend it for how beautiful it is. The visuals and the sound effects in the movie are more than enough for viewers to appreciate it. I just hope I watched this on the big screen. I'd be able to appreciate it even more than I do now.
Thanks for checking this post. See you around! (^^,)/

What a beautiful and spectacular animation, and on that side it catches you and draws the attention of the viewer hehe if it is philosophical, I take for granted that I will not understand it at first, always happens to me with that kind of stories 😂 but it really looks nice and I love everything related to the marine world.
Excellent recommendation 👌
The story was just a bonus for me... I truly enjoyed the animation style and the music. It's phenomenal! Watching this in the theater would have been a fantastic experience. xD
Thanks for dropping by! :)
This made me wanna watch it too. I never heard this title before. Is it available on Netflix or Crunchyroll?
It's not on Netflix and Crunchyroll, unfortunately. I watched it on a free site, but I think it's available on Amazon Prime but in selected areas.
The story of Ruka, Umi and Sora sounds really intriguing. The images you shared are really beautiful and captivating. You can tell that the anime has a unique and very carefully crafted art style. I can imagine how awesome it must be to watch it on the big screen, with all that visual and sound immersion. thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recommendation! I hope to be able to enjoy it soon 👍
Those are just a fraction of how beautiful the art style and animation really are. :) My pleasure and I hope you could watch it. ^^

Have you watched it?? It's awesome, isn't it?
It's deep as the deepest ocean... hihi ^^
Seeing it in the theater must be spectacular, I think this film provides beautiful things visually, but the best thing is its story.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful review.
The story is pretty deep, but complicated to understand. It's really good, though. ^^ My pleasure. :D
Mi hermana me la recomendó, pero no he tenido un tiempo para verla y más aun con esta temporada, donde se estrenaron muchos animes. Se ve que es una historia interesante. Excelente reseña. 😊
My sister recommended it to me, but I haven't had the time to watch it, and even more with this season, where many anime were released. It looks like it's an interesting story. Excellent review. 😊
Ohh... then, the more reason you check this out. It's not very long. :) Thanks a lot. ^^
I really got excited after I watched the trailer. The art style was indeed beautiful, and I love how smooth and fluid the animation looks. The sneak peak on its plot was quite intriguing and interesting also. Thanks for sharing such wonderful movie @tegoshei! I will definitely check this out later.
NIce jud kaayo ang animation style... It was visually satisfying! :)
My pleasure... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did... ^^
visually I love it, it looks super amazing and as you say it has that air of mystery and intrigue in its animation. it reminded me a little bit of a disney movie not long ago where the kids lived in the water hahaha.
I really like the themes of philosophy so I'm sure it will be very interesting for me.
Hi! Thanks for dropping by. I guess you'd enjoy this one, then. I hope you could give it a shot... 😁
