Wednesday Walk in Murino: The Red Crab and Robots

PXL_20240222_142007794.jpg

Greetings friends, after a frosty and snowy winter, we have had a thaw - well ahead of schedule. Usually we have snow until the end of March, but this year it looks like the last drifts will melt just in a few days. However, there is still a long way to stable warm weather, and there is no reason why new snowfalls should not happen. Let's see what happens in a week! I'm very curious about it myself - I can't remember a year when winter ended so quickly.

Today's photos don't have much artistic value because of the bad weather, but it's true reportage. I hesitated for a while whether to publish them, and whether it would not be more reasonable to choose for publication a story about some walk on a sunny winter day a couple of weeks earlier - when pure snow was still lying on the streets, decorating them with its purity and whiteness. But still, I decided to take actual photos and show you what walking is like right now.

First of all, I want to tell you what kind of place I chose for my walk. This place is called Murino, not long ago Murino was a small village on the border of the city. If we talk about the administrative division, Murino is located outside the city limits and has a regional subordination. This is important in some situations: the city and the region have separate budgets. The distance from the city border to Murino is minimal, but it is no longer a city.

Murino has a significant advantage over all other villages and towns located outside the city limits. The final metro station is located here. In addition, one of the stations of the suburban railway is also located here. That is, there is a major interchange hub here, and it is relatively easy to get to both the city and the region from here. The railway station and metro station are called "Devyatkino", but the town retains the historical name Murino.

Convenient transport connections were the reason for the enthusiasm of developers who managed to get contracts for the construction of new residential neighbourhoods. New multi-storey buildings have grown in a very short period of time, literally before our eyes. This housing is very popular with young people and young families. The cost per square metre in these new buildings is slightly lower than in residential areas within the city limits, and young people often choose this location as their first home in the mortgage.

The town of Murino can be divided into two parts. On one side of the railway line are quite new districts, they are built literally in a clear field. I liked this particular part of the walk. The new houses look very attractive, the ground floors of these houses are a continuous succession of shops, coffee shops, bakeries and the like, there is somewhere to walk and somewhere to rest. There are few sights in this part of the town so far. They are the monument to Mendeleev on Mendeleev Boulevard, numerous mobile phone towers and a red crab on the helicopter field.

During my walk, I often encountered delivery robots. Such robots seemed to have become a characteristic local fauna. They were distributing purchases to addresses or waiting for new orders in the parking. I live in a historic part of the city with narrow pavements and we don't use such robots, but here there is plenty of room for them. Red Crab was the furthest point of my walk. At the edge of the huge field I could see the next blocks of new buildings, but I didn't go in their direction - I wanted to devote some time to exploring the area on the other side of the railway.

On the opposite side of the railway, the old village was preserved - a few streets with wooden houses. There is also the main architectural landmark of the area - the Orthodox Church of St Catherine the Great Martyr. It is a beautiful building in the style of classicism, built in the late XVIII century, designed by architect Lvov. When a came to the church it was already starting to get dark, and I decided to finish my walk with a look at this church.

The weather has become unpredictable and changeable, the truth is I wouldn't be surprised if winter ends ahead of time. Incredible how the change has made the fog in the city disappear
What you say about Murino is very interesting, the fact that you have these public services means that the city has other benefits that other districts do not have. I love delivery service robots, I think they can be an efficient service
The district that you have introduced us to on this occasion is beautiful, dear friend @tatdt.
Have a happy Wednesday walking day.

There must be some problems and advantages in this town that are noticeable only to the locals - I, as a casual visitor, could not find out all the details. But the first impression remained favourable and the walk turned out to be interesting!
Thank you very much, dear friend @jlufer! Have a good walk!

Great series of images. The #1 is impressive - all those lines everywhere in this gloomy monochrome urban scenery.

I love compositions like this:) Thank you so much!
