Well, the first chapter of Dandadan is out and it was everything I was waiting for. Being only the first chapter and having been released in the same season as Uzumaki, I will wait a few weeks to see more chapters and make a mini review of the two anime in the same post, but what I can say very clearly is that the opening is too creative. I have rarely seen something like this, so creative and good in a shonen, because even though I love the opening of shonens, like the first opening of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, visually, despite having beautiful images and a perfect direction, they all end up being very similar to each other.

With Chainsawman something really similar happens, but that's a whole world to cultivate. With only twelve chapters, making the decision to make a different opening for each of its episodes is very daring, and well, at least one of them had to turn out well. This kind of decision makes an anime stand out above the others, because if you can see the love and talent in the opening, you have to ask, what will the anime be like then? That's why I think a good opening is really very important. Something similar happens with the ending, but these are given a little more freedom to show things that only fans would be happy to see; however, well, there are few openings that transmit that creativity that combines with the anime at a glance.

Most probably you think of Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo, both are, honestly, perfect, but they are already very used examples. Any of a known anime is a good opening, like the more than ten openings that Naruto, One Piece or HXH have, but they still fall into the canon of how anime openings have to be. For the same reason, if I am asked about an opening that makes me watch the anime, I think of keep your hands off eizouken, which is as wonderful as the anime that, sincerely, I recommend with eyes closed. From this same director (and because creativity is something that is in his blood), we can talk about the opening of Ping Pong the animation, which has an opening as weird as its animation and drawing style, and that, in addition, sticks in your mind for a long time.

A long time ago I saw Beck's opening on facebbok. I thought it was a video of the band, but no, it was an anime opening, and with that opening I could do nothing but watch it immediately and then switch to the manga. This is what a good opening should do, because unlike other openings that are amazing but don't match what the anime is, an opening serves as a form of trailer; that's why Lain's visuals and opening made so much noise, because it's not a normal opening, because it's not a normal anime either.

The Opening is definitely the cover of presentation of an anime, a good opening says a lot about the dedication they put into the animation, make a different one in each chapter is crazy haha but certainly that draws attention 😂

Undoubtedly, the Openings and Endings are also fundamental to catch us even more with the story.

Making one for each episode doesn't make any sense and I really liked that. The director's creativity is highly reflected in the openings and endings, which is why it is greatly appreciated when they do something different.

I must say that this opening left me a bit puzzled although the music has something catchy but I don't know, I wouldn't get used to an opening like that hehehehe.

The openings in the anime have always been study material, there are some that are totally inconsequential but there are others that just listening to them makes you want to watch the anime. I know this is not what this post is about, but for me, one of the greatest openings in history will always be Evangelion. I think people should pay more attention to these songs, many don't do it and they are missing something vital in the anime.

avatar

Evangelion has, as you say, one of the best openings in history. I didn't want to mention it because it is so mythical that I preferred to talk about other less known ones to use the post as a recommendation as well.

Dandadan opening blew my mind!!!😍

Like broooo🔥

I went to see Beck's opening because it looks like a band's video and it's really amazing, I loved how they developed it, even though the drawing style is not my favorite. The Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! did look a little weird to me, but the colors give it a really good vibe.

A new opening for each episode is of a truth daring. The amount of time, effort and money put into that is like a proof to the audience that yes,we know what we're doing here. Animes/shows aren't like books in which their covers don't really matter(atleast for me). It's the opening that draws the attention of the audience. Like hell's paradise, apart from it being a normal shonen anime,I really loved the opening song. Lest I forget, music matters too. Unique opening, wonderful music equals to glorious anime.

avatar

Well yes, in anime its "cover" matters a lot. I almost always like music regardless of anime, but when the visuals are so creative that they drive me crazy, that's where they really have me.
