Conforme veas la película te irás dando cuenta que la película no trata para nada acerca de Marilyn Monroe, nunca se nos explica nada acerca de ella y el espectador tiene que guiarse más que nada en base a sus propias interpretaciones, nunca se nos llega a explicar los logros que llegó a tener en vida o cómo era en su vida privada (literalmente no se relaciona con casi nadie durante el transcurso de la cinta), la película se centra únicamente en hacerla sufrir constantemente sin parar, dejando un montón de escenas muy fuertes como resultado. No hay un énfasis en las obras que hizo Marilyn Monroe sinó que termina siendo vista como objeto, quizás se quería dar un mensaje en contra de eso pero termina sucediendo lo contrario.
