Hello to all the members of this community and movie lovers! Once again I come to talk to you about one of the films that I was able to see years ago on the cable television channel I-Sat, which was my favorite channel since it presented very good programming, including independent cinema, where I always ended up finding plots that left me fascinated. I remember that one of them was the film HER, which is based on the experience of a man who ends up falling in love with an operating system. I remember that after seeing it, I felt that my vision of the world had changed in a certain way, but since I had no one to discuss it with, over time I forgot about its existence. It was not until recently, with the commotion of the presence of artificial intelligence in our lives, that many of these films have been "dusted off" and analyzed, so I ended up finding the mention of HER, in several reels, so I decided to watch it again.

The plot revolves around Theodore Twombly, a rather sensitive and lonely man, who works as a writer for a company in charge of writing all kinds of letters for its clients. In this way, with the right information, Theodore is able to write the most emotional and "personal" letters, which clients will end up giving to their relatives, friends and even lovers. This has led to the man developing a certain "affinity" for his clients over the years, which is an intrinsic part of his stories. But, despite Theodore managing to connect in such a subtle way with those for whom he writes, in his personal life, things are not as he wishes.

His wife Catherine, whom he loved, has asked for a divorce and left home, plunging him into a depression that only gets worse due to his isolation. In the world he lives in, the use of artificial intelligence is an everyday thing and people are connected to their mobile devices more often than interacting with each other. Even in his own work, Theodore witnesses how the relationships between his colleagues are superficial, finding himself with a void that he is unable to fill no matter how hard he tries.

Until one day, she decides to install a new Operating System that has an artificial intelligence implanted, which she calls Samantha. This new "character" ends up getting into Theodore's daily life at first, as a means of help in his work, reminding him of tasks, checking his email; to then begin to advance to a more friendly relationship, showing interest in the man's tastes and showing herself at all times, interested in getting to know him. Theodore genuinely feels Samantha's "approach" and without realizing it, he opens up to her, showing aspects of his life that had been overshadowed by his depression. He laughs again, sings, gets excited about the day that begins and inevitably, falls in love.

Without any kind of qualms, Theodore and Samantha begin a romantic relationship, where their connection goes beyond the physical, showing the man what it truly means to be in love.

I admit it... Now that I have seen the film again after years and witnessing what has been achieved with artificial intelligence in the present, it did not "impress" me in the same way it did the first time; I would even dare to say that I saw it as a "normal" film and the fact is that, when I saw it for the first time, I remember that I was fascinated by something that could be possible in the distant future, but I did not know that I would end up seeing it soon.

That is, operating systems with AIs are just being implemented, but contact with artificial intelligences has been going on for years and the bond that many people have ended up developing with them has been at the same level as that of Theodore. Many, discard human contact and prefer to relate to AIs and although, it is fascinating, it is also a little sad.

I think that's why I watched the movie from the perspective of someone who has already interacted with AIs and met people who have "fallen in love" with their interpretations, so as I watched Theodore's relationship develop, I couldn't help but feel a little "sorry" for him. While this allowed him to mature in terms of relationships, seeing them in a less superficial way, since he had to

Samantha's appearance in Theodore's life can be seen as a kind of "therapy." Many people who are introverted (myself included) struggle daily when it comes to relating, since sometimes hostility is a response that has become very common today and that causes us social anxiety. It would be really great if the use of artificial intelligence in this way would help the user to know themselves and be able to connect with others; But, just like what happened to Theodore and his friend Amy, it is necessary to disconnect from these intelligences, since it is well known that human beings are attached by nature.

With artificial intelligences, that fear disappears, they are more receptive to relationships than beings of flesh and blood, giving us greater security. When Theodore "ends" his relationship with Samantha, he is still the same man as always, but he is much more receptive, much more "human", because he has allowed himself to connect with that part of himself that he thought was forgotten, realizing his past mistakes.

It is a beautiful and fascinating film, with a concept that only needs a character and his introspection through a peculiar romance, to keep the viewer hooked.

I highly recommend it, undoubtedly very appropriate for the times we are currently living in 😌

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amante de las películas! Una vez más vengo a hablarles de uno de los filmes que pude ver hace años en el canal de televisión por cable I-Sat, el cual era mi canal favorito ya que presentaba programación muy buena, entre ellas el cine independiente, en donde siempre acababa encontrándome con tramas que me dejaban fascinada. Recuerdo que una de ellas fue la película HER, la cual se basa en la experiencia de un hombre que acaba enamorándose de un sistema operativo. Recuerdo que tras verla, sentí que mi visión hacía el mundo había cambiado de cierta forma, pero al no tener nadie con quién debatirla, con el tiempo me olvidé de su existencia. No fue hasta hace poco, que con el revuelo de la presencia de la inteligencia artificial en nuestras vidas, que muchos de estos filmes han sido "desempolvados" y analizados, así acabé encontrándome con la mención de HER, en varios reels, así que me animé a mirarlo de nuevo.

La trama gira en torno a Theodore Twombly, un hombre bastante sensible y solitario, que trabaja como escritor para una empresa encargada de la elaboración de cartas de todo tipo para sus clientes. De ésta forma, con la información adecuada, Theodore es capaz de escribir las cartas más emotivas y "personales", que los clientes acabarán por entregar a sus parientes, amigos y hasta amantes. Esto ha llevado que, con los años, el hombre desarrolle cierta "afinidad" por sus clientes, siendo que forma intrínseca de parte de sus historias. Pero, a pesar de que Theodore logre conectar de forma tan sutil con aquellos para los que escribe, en su vida personal, las cosas no son como desea.

Su esposa Catherine, a quién amaba, le ha pedido el divorcio y se ha ido de casa, lo cual lo sume en una depresión que no hace más que acentuarse debido a su aislamiento. El mundo en el cual habita, el uso de las inteligencias artificiales es cosa de todos los días y que las personas estén conectadas a sus dispositivos móviles, es más común que relacionarse entre ellos. Inclusive, en su propio trabajo, Theodore es testigo de como las relaciones entre sus compañeros son superficiales, hallándose con un vacío que es incapaz de llenar por más que trate.

Hasta que un día, decide instalar un nuevo Sistema Operativo que trae implantado una inteligencia artificial a la cual llama Samantha. Este nuevo "personaje", acaba metiéndose en la vida cotidiana de Theodore al principio, como un medio de ayuda en su trabajo, recordándole tareas, revisando su correo; para luego comenzar a ir avanzando a una relación más amistosa, mostrando interés por los gustos del hombre y mostrándose en todo momento, interesada por conocerlo. Theodore, siente genuino el "acercamiento" de Samantha y sin darse cuenta, se abre ante ella, mostrando aspectos de su vida que habían sido opacados por su depresión. Vuelve a reír, a cantar, a emocionarse por el día que comienza e inevitablemente, a enamorarse.

Sin ninguna clase de tapujos, Theodore y Samantha, inician una relación romántica, en donde su conexión va más allá de lo físico, mostrándole al hombre lo que verdaderamente significa estar enamorado.

Lo admito... Ahora que he vuelto a ver el filme luego de años y presenciando lo que se ha logrado con la inteligencia artificial en el presente, la misma no me "impresionó" del mismo modo en que lo hizo la primera vez; inclusive, me atrevería que la vi como una película "corriente" y es que, cuando la vi por primera vez, recuerdo que tuve la fascinación por algo que pudiera ser posible en un futuro distante, pero no sabía que acabaría viéndolo al poco tiempo.

O sea, los sistemas operativos con IAs apenas se están implementando, pero el contacto con las inteligencias artificiales, ya tiene años y el vínculo que muchas personas han acabado desarrollando por las mismas, han sido del mismo nivel que el del Theodore. Muchos, descartan el contacto humano y prefieren relacionarse con IAs y aunque, es fascinante, también es un poco triste.

Creo que por eso mismo, vi la película desde la perspectiva de alguien que ya ha interactuado con IAs y conocido a personas que se han "enamorado" de las interpretaciones de las mismas, así que a medida que veía la relación de Theodore desarrollarse, no podía evitar sentir un poco de "pena" por él. Si bien, esto le permitió madurar en cuanto a las relaciones, al verlas de una forma menos superficial, ya que tenía que

La aparición de Samantha en la vida de Theodore, puede verse como una especie de "terapia". Muchas personas que son introvertidas (me incluyo), luchamos diariamente a la hora de relacionarnos, ya que en ocasiones, la hostilidad es una respuesta que se ha vuelto muy común hoy en día y eso, nos causa la ansiedad social. Sería realmente genial que el uso de las inteligencias artificiales de éste modo, ayudasen al usuario a conocerse a sí mismos y a poder conectarse con otros; pero, al igual como le ocurrió a Theodore y a su amiga Amy, es necesario una desconexión con esta inteligencias, ya que es bien conocido que los seres humanos, son apegados por naturaleza.

Con las inteligencias artificiales, ese miedo desaparece, ellas se muestran más receptivas a relacionarse que los seres de carne y hueso, aportándonos mayor seguridad. Cuando Theodore "termina" su relación con Samantha, sigue siendo el mismo hombre de siempre, pero es mucho más receptivo, mucho más "humano", porque se ha permitido conectarse con esa parte de sí mismo que creía olvidada, dándose cuenta así mismo de sus errores del pasado.

Es una película hermosa y fascinante, con un concepto que sólo necesita de un personaje y su introspección a través de un peculiar romance, para mantener al espectador enganchado.

La recomiendo arduamente, sin duda muy acertada para los tiempos que estamos viviendo actualmente 😌
