Hivefest first conference day

avatar

Having been to previous events I knew Hivefest would be intense. It has been a long day of presentations, discussions and fun.

Steve

As I paid a little extra for my ticket I am listed as a sponsor.

Dress to impress

Some people have a t-shirt for their project, but @brittandjosie had a whole outfit. Unfortunately there is no event shirt for attendees this time, but we got some other goodies.

Venue

We caught to metro to the main station and then took a ferry to get to the Eye which has some cinemas. We were in one of those for the talks.

Socialising

Between presentation sessions we could chat whilst enjoying some refreshments. It is a cool building. The were big windows so we could see all the passing canal traffic. They have big ships carrying goods around.

Presentation

We had a real variety of presentations. @zirochka talked about her experiences in Ukraine during the invasion. This was obviously very emotional for her and I think everyone was touched by this. Hive is really helping people there. We also heard about marketing projects, blockchain development, beer, soup (!) and more. I recommend looking up the videos which should be available soon if you missed the live feed.

Boat

Then we boarded a couple of boats for a tour of the canals. It is a pretty city with lots of interesting buildings and boats. There are lots of people living on the water. The weather was really variable with heavy rain at times.

Petanque

We docked near a bar where we played petanque (some call it boule). This was quite competitive. There was beer, food and more chatting. I talked to people I would never met otherwise and learnt a lot.

Windmill

I walked back to the hotel with @livinguktaiwan, trying to avoid being run down by the many cyclists. This windmill is right by the bar. It seems out of place in town, but maybe it used to be in open countryside.

I am hoping to sleep better tonight so I can last another day like this.

You guys really had fun which is nice and thanks for sharing.

avatar

Good meeting you at last Steve, and thanks for walking me to the metro

avatar

No problem. It was a fun evening. I see some people kept the party going, but I needed to sleep.

avatar

What a day! And yes intense it is, but wouldn’t have want to miss it. I was neckered and walked a bit and went with the tram with @zirochka ready for the night and hopefully sleep better for day 2.
See you in church hahahah

avatar

I slept better, so ready for more. Given my lack of faith I may get struck by lightning if I go in a church 😁

!BEER 🍺

avatar

We all were too excited to have a good sleep after the first meeting )) And I loved our late walk 💙

Thanks for these updates on HiveFest. Have a good time and have fun. I look forward to the next post on HiveFest. Beautiful cover photo of the post, I see that in the advertising billboard of HIVE and SPLINTERLANDS you are there too. I now understand better the importance you have in this ecosystem. The compliments.

Looks like an absolutely fabulous event; good job for sponsoring it ;)

xDD same experience for me when I first went there
we just hear the 'ring ring' behind us all-the-time

Dear like all the events related to Hivr, I consider that Hivefest is very important for everyone, especially for those of us who have several years, trying to make our publications better and well recommended. I hope that with the joy you show by being in this event, it will be very productive for you. I wish you many successes xesteemed @steevc , from Venezuela

Fun day indeed. And more to come tomorrow! 😉

avatar

Oh yes. We all needed a rest, but some may have been partying until late.

avatar

I won't confirm or deny it! 😁😁

This feels interesting already...

I think I have to set a goal for next year and that will be to go to the next hive fest

avatar

It would be great to have you there. I have no regrets about coming. Just the conversations you have make it worth it.

avatar

I also want to be there because if the kind of people I will be meeting.

I mean people with a lot of consistency and people who have won in different aspects of their lives.

avatar

What a day it was indeed. So many impressions and I am trying to find motivation to get out of bed currently haha.

Ps the windmill is the current place of legendary brewery 'Brouwerij t IJ'

avatar

Important discovery from #hivefest. @steevc is really quite tall! Even though I'd seen lots of pictures of him and lots of videos this was a total surprise to me!

avatar

I heard you got chased away by the police on day 2 for illegal busking

avatar

I did. Currently I'm a police cell 😁

avatar

At least it's a Dutch police cell. I heard you get little fish and beer there!

It was great seeing you on the live stream, Steve. Hope you're enjoying Hive Fest!

avatar

what a great presentation and you participated there, it would be nice if I could attend it

avatar

Amsterdam is such as fantastic city. You’re not too far from where I used to work, I was on the other side of the river to the east.

The bar at the Hotel American is worth a visit if you get a chance. The photos of all those who have visited are pretty cool. Elbow were there last time I stayed.

avatar

I'm on the#beersaturday pub crawl. Trying some different beers and having fun chats. Not actually talking about Hive though.

avatar

Sounds like a good kick off. I can see there are fewer numbers than Krakow, and even Bangkok, but I'm sure it means you get the chance to speak to most people.

avatar

Wow, that looks awesome. It seems that the organizers really do a lot to ensure that everyone has a great time!

avatar

Petanque in a bar... I've never seen something like this. It works better after a couple of !BEER 's?

avatar

It was new to me too. After a few beers nobody cares about the rules. We didn't totally understand them anyway.

avatar

I think there aren't a lot of rules in this game, right? Everyone takes turn to throw one of his two balls !LOL and the closest to the small ball wins :-)

avatar

It's a little more complex than that actually. I'm not sure it mattered too much really given most people were not great at it.
