Sing Sing And Kraven

SING SING

Serving his sentence in the maximum-security Sing Sing Correctional Facility for a crime he didn’t commit, Divine J. finds meaning in life by joining the prison’s theater group alongside fellow inmates. Worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Colman Domingo is FANTASTIC. I’m almost certain he’ll get an Oscar nod.

  • Honestly, I didn’t expect much going in, but it feels like a dramatized documentary. I was pleasantly surprised.

  • The approach is quite realistic overall.

  • Something I didn’t know (and found impressive) is that most of the lead cast are actual inmates from the correctional facility.

  • It has a more "poetic" tone, aiming to break the stigma surrounding this social group.

  • Strikes a good balance between the drama of the inmates’ lives and their humorous way of coping.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • It sticks to a somewhat predictable framework.

  • A bit more melodramatic than I’d like—probably because it’s chasing awards—and takes itself too seriously at times.

  • Some parts are boring 🤷‍♂️. Feels like one of those films you either love or forget.

  • It drags in places.

  • Has an old-school vibe in its direction.

KRAVEN

Kraven’s complex relationship with his ruthless father drives him down a path of revenge with violent consequences, pushing him to become the world’s greatest hunter. What can I even say? It feels like Sony is doing this on purpose … Aside from the Spider-Man films, it’s like they’re actively trying to ruin anything related to the Spider-Verse. The result here? Below average.

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson is probably the best part of the movie. He has the presence of a leading man, but there’s no script to support him.

  • The R rating allows for raw violence… and while it’s there, it doesn’t bring anything extra to the table.

  • A couple of well-shot stunt scenes, but that’s about it.

  • The character of Foreigner seemed interesting, but he wasn’t developed enough.
    🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • The biggest issue is the script. It’s a chaotic mess—poorly written, incoherent, and riddled with clichés.

  • Ariana DeBose is wasted in a purely decorative role.

  • Russell Crowe? Completely forgettable.

  • The CGI is bad—both for the animals and Rhino.

  • Directing is subpar.

  • The main villains are bland and unmemorable.

  • Sony keeps making the same mistake: turning characters who are antiheroes in the comics into heroes, and doing it poorly. Plus, they don’t connect them to their main adversary, Spider-Man. If they did, I think the audience would care more.

  • Zero chemistry between the cast members.

Sing Sing is a movie that I wanna watch 'cause I've been reading some good reviews about it. On the other hand, Kraven? No way! I can't stand those kind of movies anymore.

Let me ask you something, @steemychicken1: How can I get better rewards from my movie posts? Like this one, for example: https://peakd.com/hive-166847/@wiseagent/movie-review-nosferatu-2024-8e4.

I've been trying hard for a while now to get better rewards, but I see that I still can't reach big numbers. What kind of advice would you give me?

The review is really good that’s why it has some nice upvoting . I don’t really know probably consistency with the content and movies that people like. And focusing on one post per day will give down the road more visibility and greater rewards I believe.

Excellent review 👏🏽... Kraven really caught my attention 💜, because of the superhero theme and the underlying message 👀. The consequences that revenge generates in the life of a person and those around him.

Interesting 🤔

Excelente reseña 👏🏽... Me llamó mucho la atención Kraven 💜, por la temática de superhéroe y el mensaje de fondo 👀. Las consecuencias que la venganza genera en la vida de una persona y los que le rodean.
