Movie Review for Song Of The Bandits
The week has been buzzing with activities moving from one end of the village I'm doing my community medicine posting to another so it definitely was a good time to take out yesterday that we had no activity to do and take a watch on what's going on with kdramas.
After the long search, I ended up with this particular movie... Read a bit about it and decided to see it because the setting reminded me so much of Bridal Mask and Freedom Fighter, Lee Hoe Young.
Ever been watching a movie that it's so good you don't want it to finish?
I literally was delaying watching the last episode of this drama because it was really that good... A classic movie indeed.
If you've been surfing the net looking a good movie to watch, then surf no more and get to downloading already, hehehe.
Drama: Song of the Bandits
Director: Hwang Joon-Hyeok
Network: Netflix
Episodes: 9
Release Date: September 22, 2023
You know what brings about Freedom?
It's when you've constantly pushed people to the wall leaving them no option other than thinking of an escape route and when that thought creeps in, nothing can quench it, not even killing their family members and friends.
This was what the movie was all about... It depicts the sufferings of the Joseon people during the Japanese colonial era where their armies were constantly doing anything they want.
Lee Yoon, a former servant of the Japanese realized it's time to go back to his homeland and when he witnessed the massacre, he had no option other than stepping up to protect his people; his newly adopted family.
Eon Nyeon makes a good combo with Lee Yoon despite been the only target in her assassination career that she pitied or failed to kill because she wanted Choi Chung-Soo to do the killing whereas Choi Chung-Soo wanted Lee Yoon to witness the inner pain that comes with constantly loosing your love ones to the cold hands of death everytime the Japanese colonial armies raid a Joseon village.
It's got a good plot and a great setting and the characters weren't made invincible, there were times they had to run for their lives and there were times they had to stand to their feet... That's exactly a replica of what life is all about; win some and lose some; no one wins them all.
Not to talk about the action packed scenes that you will Keep taking back to watch and see exactly how the person pulled up the stunt, hehehe.
It's really a great drama mixed with comedy scenes even amidst the constant killings.
Finally, the production was very apt especially in terms of the Korean songs (OST) used in the series... It was really a good 8.5/10 for me and a must watch for all lovers of Korean dramas.
Watching Korean dramas has always been my thing for a very long time even though recently I have to do a lot of research before I kick-start anyone because once I start a series, I just can't leave it unfinished no matter how bad it gets, lol.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day
K-dramas can get you hooked if you are not careful 😁
I think l like this movie seeing that it's all about fighting for freedom from injustice plus I like sword play too. Definitely watching this during the weekend.
Hehehe... You'll definitely love it, I'm sure of it
